Hannakin Barn in Hawkshead is a well-loved cottage, praised for its comfort, beautiful garden, and ideal location. Guests appreciate the high standard of the property, its proximity to local amenities, and the thoughtful touches like welcome gifts. While some minor maintenance issues and noise disturbances are mentioned, the overall sentiment is positive, with many guests expressing a desire to return.
The property is consistently described as clean and well-maintained, with only one mention of slugs which seems to be an isolated incident. The overall impression is that cleanliness is of a high standard.
The location is highly regarded for its easy access to Hawkshead and surrounding areas, with plenty of walks and amenities nearby. However, there is a mention of noise from a neighbouring car body repair garage which affects the tranquillity for some guests.
Guests find the cottage comfortable, with good quality furnishings and a cosy atmosphere. Some feedback suggests minor improvements could enhance comfort further, such as upgrading the TV and addressing a difficult-to-operate shower.
The cottage is well-equipped and maintained to a high standard, though there are several mentions of maintenance issues such as heating problems, a leak under the sink, and a non-functional CD player. These indicate room for improvement in facilities and maintenance.
While guests frequently mention and appreciate welcome gifts such as wine and chocolates, as these are personal touches that may not be consistently provided, it cannot be guaranteed that future guests will receive the same.

The picturesque village of Hawkshead still retains the charm and character that so endeared it to its most famous residents - William Wordsworth and Beatrix Potter. Visitors can wander the wealth of tiny alleyways, thoroughfares, archways and courtyards between the whitewashed 17th century houses. There are many pleasant inns, teashops, guest houses and gift shops in the village, as well as the Beatrix Potter Gallery, which houses an annually changing exhibition of the famous author’s illustrations and stories. The other famous Hawkshead enthusiast, William Wordsworth, attended the Old Grammar School in 1779-87, which still stands today, and you can visit the building where the Lakeland poet developed his love of the form, and even see the desk into which he scratched his name as a small boy! Newby Bridge is ten miles away and offers attractions such as the Aquarium of the Lakes and Windermere Lake Cruises, sailing daily between Ambleside, Bowness and Lakeside. With stunning scenery and numerous attractions within easy touring distance, Hawkshead is in an ideal location at any time of the year.

The cottage is really well laid out and looked after. The kitchen is better equipped than my own and the whole cottage was cosy and warm. The only thing that could have been better is the upstairs loo seat. It really could do with some tightening/fixing. Apart from that everything was perfect. Many thanks!
Charles
Our only observations are 1. The seat on the en-suite toilet âtravelsâ 2. There is a water leak under the kitchen sink.
