Holly Cottage is highly regarded for its superb location and comfort, with guests frequently returning and planning future stays. The property is praised for being warm, clean, and well-equipped, contributing to enjoyable holidays. Some minor issues with maintenance and facilities were noted, but these did not significantly detract from the overall positive experiences.
The cottage is consistently described as clean, with one report of a spotless house. However, there was a mention of a dirty patio cleaner and a mucky travel cot, which suggests room for improvement.
The location is repeatedly highlighted as perfect, central, and ideal, with ample parking and proximity to bus stops, contributing to the property's appeal.
Guests find the cottage comfortable, with warm and cosy mentions. However, some guests noted uncomfortable sofas and chairs, and issues with a hot shower that could not be adjusted.
The property is well-equipped, with improvements noted over time. However, there were several comments about maintenance issues such as a non-functioning log burner and a need for new kitchen utensils, which suggests that some facilities could be better maintained.
While guests appreciated the equipment and comfort provided, there were no specific mentions of gifts or thoughtful touches such as welcome packs, which are not guaranteed. Therefore, this category cannot be scored.

All of this and so much more is yours to enjoy when you book Holly Cottage.
Situated in the heart of the Lake District National Park is the lovely village of Grasmere, probably best known as the home of William Wordsworth, a place he once described as "The most loveliest spot that man hath found". Any visit to Grasmere needs to include The Grasmere Gingerbread shop, where the Wilson family has been making gingerbread for over 60 years. Also in the village are a number of shops, pubs, a church which dates back to the 13th century, and Grasmere Lake. Grasmere Sports takes place every August, where you can watch participants compete in a variety of sports, including Cumberland wrestling. Just five miles away is the town of Ambleside and Lake Winderemere where you will find shops, pubs, restaurants and the 17th century Bridge House, which is one of the most photographed buildings in the Lake District. Cruises, boat trips and watersports can all be enjoyed on Lake Windermere, and the towns of Windermere and Keswick are also within driving distance. Grasmere is a wonderful base for your Lake District retreat.

Our family all commented this time as we as 2 years ago how uncomfortable the sofa and chairs are and barely enough room for 6 adults now our grandchildren are teenagers - a bit of a squeeze around the fire! This is a minor point but a shower caddy in downstairs shower would help us oldies bending down. Also recycling instructions need to be clearer and more internal bins needed if we have to follow the rules. Very good cleaners as house was spotless. Liking the new coatstand in Hall-holds umpteen coats without falling over.

Our only âissueâ was the log burner (which despite my best efforts failed to stay lit for more than five minutes! We couldnât fault the plentiful supply of kindling, logs, fire lighters and newspaper, and we do have a log burner at home so Iâm used to themâ¦.but it just wouldnât draw) We were perfectly warm enough without it though as the heating system is very efficient. We had a great stay and we hope to return next year
