Holmdale is a well-presented cottage in Cumbria, praised for its stunning views, cosy warmth, and great location. Guests appreciate the well-equipped kitchen, luxurious bathrooms, and thoughtful touches. While some minor issues are noted, the overall sentiment is highly positive, with many keen to return.
The property is consistently described as spotless and immaculate, indicating a high standard of cleanliness. One isolated comment about dirty dishes suggests a minor oversight rather than a trend.
The location is highly regarded for its tranquillity, proximity to local amenities, and stunning views, making it an ideal base for exploring the Lake District.
The majority of guests find the property comfortable, with cosy underfloor heating and well-furnished rooms. A few guests mention the sofas being slightly uncomfortable, but this does not detract significantly from the overall comfort.
Facilities are generally praised, especially the well-equipped kitchen and luxurious bathrooms. Some suggestions for improvements are made, such as adding a grab rail in the shower and a blind for the bathroom window.
While guests express gratitude and appreciation for their stays, there are no specific mentions of gifts or extra thoughtful gestures that would warrant a score in this category.

Lying at the northern tip of Lake Windermere, England’s largest lake, Ambleside makes a superb base for touring the central Lakes, with Grasmere and the Langdale Valley just a short drive away. There is plenty to do here - cruises, boat trips and watersports on Lake Windermere itself and numerous shops, restaurants and pubs in the village to suit all tastes. On the lakeside at Waterhead, the parkland offers lovely views down the lake and a short stretch of beach, whilst a walk in the other direction, following Stock Ghyll through woodland, will bring you to the entrancing waterfall of Stock Ghyll Force. Along with the Lake and the great walking on offer, Ambleside is also famous for its annual rushbearing ceremony and the diminutive 17th century “Bridge House” - one of the most photographed buildings in the Lake District and now the National Trust Information Centre.

We visited in November and found the house to be very cosy and warm. The underfloor heating in the kitchen and bathroom was toasty. Itâs a lovely clean cottage and very well equipped. Everything was of good quality. The only tiny negative for us, as others have remarked was that the sofas are quite low down and not so easy to get out of, but they were comfortable. We used the conservatory a lot. That too has underfloor heating so can use in the winter. The views from the windows are amazing. We took two cars and did not find any difficulty of finding a parking space for one along the road. We look forward to another holiday here next time we visit Grasmere.

Very well maintained, extremely comfortable bedrooms, lovely living room and conservatory, kitchen well planned and very spacious. Would definitely return to relax in the home comforts after hiking on the fells. A visitor book for guests to leave their comments and share their experiences would be welcome.

Next year we will be there is July and August, so that doesn't seem to be a problem. It is a great cottage.
