Guests say

Landower House in Ambleside is highly praised for its superb location, ample parking, and comfortable beds. Guests appreciate the modern ensuite bathrooms, well-equipped kitchen, and the property's suitability for family gatherings. The outdoor electric car meters and welcome gifts add to the positive experience. Some minor issues with dining chairs and complex electrics are noted, but overall, guests are keen to rebook, indicating a delightful stay.

Guests that stayed at this property said

The property generally receives positive remarks for cleanliness, with guests finding it well-kept. However, a few guests noted areas where cleaning could be improved, such as the fridge, bathrooms, and signs of previous stays. These comments suggest a high standard with room for some attention to detail.

The location is consistently lauded for its convenience, being within walking distance to Ambleside's centre, shops, pubs, and restaurants. The proximity to local walks and the availability of parking are also highly valued, contributing to the property's appeal.

Guests find the property comfortable, highlighting the quality of the beds and the sociable living space. The presence of a wood burner and ample seating in the lounge adds to the comfort. However, there are comments about the dining chairs being low, which suggests a slight discomfort during dining.

The property is praised for its well-appointed rooms and high-spec interior fittings. The kitchen is notably well-equipped, and the presence of ensuite bathrooms is appreciated. Some guests experienced issues with heating controls and electrics, indicating that while facilities are generally excellent, there is room for improvement in maintenance.

While guests mention welcome gifts and appreciate the thoughtfulness, there is not enough information to determine if such gestures are consistent or guaranteed for all stays. Therefore, a score cannot be provided, and guests should note that such gifts, while delightful, may not be a standard offering.

The surrounding scenery of Lakeland Fells is dramatic and lends a stunning backdrop to the Lakeland stone buildings and attractive streets of the village. One of the Lake District's most sophisticated communities, Ambleside village is alive with interesting local businesses, shops and acclaimed Lake District restaurants and pubs. There are 2 cinemas and a jazz bar, and lots of cafes and delis to enjoy. Stunning mountain walks and bike rides aplenty from your front door.

Lying at the northern tip of Lake Windermere, England’s largest lake, Ambleside makes a superb base for touring the central Lakes, with Grasmere and the Langdale Valley just a short drive away. There is plenty to do here - cruises, boat trips and watersports on Lake Windermere itself and numerous shops, restaurants and pubs in the village to suit all tastes. On the lakeside at Waterhead, the parkland offers lovely views down the lake and a short stretch of beach, whilst a walk in the other direction, following Stock Ghyll through woodland, will bring you to the entrancing waterfall of Stock Ghyll Force. We would definitely recommend. Just some little things we would like to make you aware of to help you further improve. 1. Outside the back door was crawling with ants. 2. The bin was 3/4 full when we arrived on Friday, despite refuse collection being Thursday. 3. Only one teaspoon for 8 people. 4. Only 2 champagne flutes for 8 people. 5. The instructions for the lighting and heating could be better explained. All of these things are noted to you constructively. Your house is gorgeous and we loved it Kind Regards The Collinson & Astil families

Landower is by far the best cottage we have stayed in, it fitted the bill perfectly. Luxurious bathrooms worthy of a very ‘posh’ hotel….beautiful bedrooms with comfy beds. Outside space to sit in the sunshine and have a drink. Thank you for the lovely welcome pack too, that was a really nice touch. Would love to return.
