Second time we have visited Letterbox Cottage this year, the second visit was as good as the first. The cottage itself it’s outstanding, and well looked after. It genuinely feels like home. The weather wasn’t great the days we visited, but being in the house wasn’t a problem. It is a home away from home. Location wise it could not be better. Right next to the most famous farm in Windermere, allowing you to see what Beatrix Potter would have seen. Right next to a 10/10 pub the Cuckoo Brow Inn. And 5 minutes from the ferry over to Bowness, 15 minutes to Hawkshead, and 25 minutes to Ambleside. The owner and the management company are doing a great job!

A lovely cottage in a stunning location. The property is well equipped and full of typical lakeland character. The kitchen/dining area is large and practical and well stocked with plenty of pans and utensils. The bedrooms are small but cosy and more suited to a family with children because of the bunk beds in the smaller room. One downside to the cottage was the heating in the lounge area on the middle floor. Sadly it wasn't adequate enough to heat the large room as one of the electric radiators wasn't working. The log burner had to be fed constantly whilst in the room to take off the November chill. The property is single glazed throughout which unfortunately is apparent in winter. There are two parking spaces within spitting distance of the cottage but you'd struggle to get two larger cars in the bay.
