Guests say

The Coach House is a spacious and well-equipped cottage in a superb location, ideal for exploring the Lake District with walks from the doorstep and abundant wildlife in the private garden. Guests praise its comfort, privacy, and excellent amenities, making it perfect for families and groups. While some mention areas needing a little TLC, such as décor and maintenance, the overall experience is overwhelmingly positive, with many guests eager to return.

Most guests found the cottage clean and well-presented, though a few noted areas needing deeper cleaning, such as skirting boards and occasional maintenance issues like stained bedding or outdoor neglect. Overall, cleanliness is good but could be improved with more attention to detail.

The location is highly praised for its proximity to Ambleside, Grasmere, and local walks, with beautiful private grounds and easy access to the lakes. Some mention road noise, but this does not detract significantly from the overall appeal.

Guests generally found the cottage comfortable, cosy, and spacious, with good beds and living areas. A few noted minor issues with mattress comfort and dated sofas, but these did not majorly impact their stay.

The cottage is well-equipped with kitchen appliances, utensils, and modern amenities. Some guests noted minor maintenance issues, such as chipped crockery, a broken toaster, or occasional WiFi problems, but overall facilities are very good.

Some guests appreciated small touches like complimentary milk (though not always in date) and well-equipped kitchens. However, as gifts and extras are not consistently mentioned or guaranteed, guests should not expect them as standard.

The pretty village of Grasmere is just down the road, where you can explore Dove Cottage, famous as one of Wordsworth’s earlier homes where he and his sister spent 8 years of ‘plain living, but high thinking’. It was here he wrote his most famous work, ‘I Wandered Lonely as a Cloud’, and is now a fantastic museum about the writer. Grasmere also offers a selection of bars and restaurants, tea rooms and independent shops, where you can try some of the world famous Grasmere gingerbread. Slightly further afield, but not too far, explore Ambleside and Windermere, where you can enjoy steamer rides, the World of Beatrix Potter, rowing or swing amongst the treetops at Go Ape. Lovely cottage, had everything we needed and more, big garden, plenty of parking for two cars, private, yes close to the road, but it really doesn't feel like it, very well equipped kitchen so great for cooking your own meals and comfy beds. It's just over a mile walk to Grasmere and Rydal which worked well, and plenty of other walks from the door, also a short walk to the Lake for a bit of wild swimming. Lovely holiday, thanks!

Lovely cottage in delightful setting, birds and squirrels abound even red ones. Beds were comfy, bathrooms were huge, lovely roll top bath in one and walk in shower in the other. Kitchen was large and well equipped. Ve,Ryan pleasant stay.

We had a lovely week. The cottage was a fab base to explore Grasmere, Ambleside and the vast amounts of paths exploring the area right from the property.
