The Coach House in Ambleside receives high praise for its excellent location, comfort, and cleanliness. Guests appreciate the peaceful setting, proximity to town and the lake, and the convenience of private parking. While some minor maintenance issues and a desire for better information provision are noted, the overall sentiment is extremely positive, with many guests being repeat visitors.
Guests consistently report the property as clean and well-prepared, with high standards of cleanliness that contribute to a comfortable stay. One mention of a valance needing cleaning prevents a perfect score.
The location is highly praised for being quiet yet conveniently close to both the town centre and the lake, making it an ideal spot for guests.
The property is described as comfortable and well-furnished, with a few guests suggesting updates to furniture and blinds for improved sleep quality.
Facilities are generally well-regarded, with private parking and a well-equipped kitchen. However, some maintenance issues like leaks and slow-draining sinks, and the absence of a CD player as advertised, slightly lower the score.
While guests mention a welcome glass of sherry, there is insufficient information to determine if such gestures are consistent or to assess overall thoughtfulness. Therefore, this score is set to null.
This stone detached former coach house is a luxurious one-bedroom holiday home situated in Ambleside, a traditional Lakeland town set in the Lake District National Park. The cottage is just a five-minute walk to the town and a short stroll to the popular Hayes Garden World. Picturesque Waterhead, on beautiful Lake Windermere is just a ten-minute walk. The property is spacious, luxurious and stylish, with carefully co-ordinated colours and an interesting collection of pictures and fitted carpets with contrasting rugs. A real gem for all seasons.
Walk into town and relax at one of its excellent restaurants, cafes or pubs, or catch the latest film at one of the two excellent cinemas. Visit Waterhead for a bite to eat at the lakeshore cafes, pub or hotel restaurants. Then enjoy a scenic cruise on the lake or hire your own boat to seek out its secluded bays.
Spend the day hiking the local trails and get up close to some of the most beautiful countryside in the Lake District. If your walk has been a wet one, you will be pleased to find the utility area with drying space for your outdoor gear, and laundry facilities.
Set off on a day’s driving tour to discover dramatic valleys, captivating lakes and charming villages and hamlets.
After your long journey, relax on the lovely sofa with a favourite drink and admire your beautifully appointed and spacious sitting room. You will be impressed with the high ceilings, exposed roof beams and timbers, lovely antiques and tasteful décor. Your dining kitchen is modern and beautifully fitted with an excellent range of equipment. You will be sure to make a delicious meal in this real 'cook's kitchen'. If you fancy, eat alfresco on the south facing patio area.
At the end of the day take the stairs and unwind in your large, galleried double bedroom with king sized bed and pitched roof beams. You will find your luxury bathroom with bath and shower over on the ground floor.
Lying at the northern tip of Lake Windermere, England’s largest lake, Ambleside makes a superb base for touring the central Lakes, with Grasmere and the Langdale Valley just a short drive away. There is plenty to do here - cruises, boat trips and watersports on Lake Windermere itself and numerous shops, restaurants and pubs in the village to suit all tastes. On the lakeside at Waterhead, the parkland offers lovely views down the lake and a short stretch of beach, whilst a walk in the other direction, following Stock Ghyll through woodland, will bring you to the entrancing waterfall of Stock Ghyll Force. Along with the Lake and the great walking on offer, Ambleside is also famous for its annual rushbearing ceremony and the diminutive 17th century “Bridge House” - one of the most photographed buildings in the Lake District and now the National Trust Information Centre.

An extremely comfortable property in an ideal situation and being able to park car in garage an added bonus. All amenities are within easy walking distance and we make use of the local bus service.
