Windermere Cottage in Ambleside offers a tranquil retreat with stunning views, ideal for relaxation and dog-friendly walks. Guests appreciate the property's comfort and location, though some suggest improvements in cleanliness and facilities. The charm of the area and the cottage's warmth during stays are frequently mentioned, with many guests expressing a desire to return.
Cleanliness has received mixed feedback. While some guests found the cottage clean and comfortable, others noted a need for a deeper clean and mentioned issues such as cobwebs and a pet odour. The bedding and towels, however, were consistently reported as clean.
The location is highly praised for its peacefulness, proximity to local attractions, and beautiful scenery. Guests enjoyed the local walks and the serene environment, contributing to a positive experience.
Comfort levels are generally well-regarded, with guests finding the property warm and the bedding comfortable. However, some noted that the central heating could be improved and suggested the addition of wooden floors for practicality with pets.
Facilities have received criticism for being sparse and in need of modernisation, particularly the kitchen equipment and broadband service. The lack of a welcome folder with local information was also noted. However, the maintenance response was prompt when issues arose.
Some guests mentioned the lack of a welcome pack and suggested that small gestures like a few logs for the fire or a bottle of wine would be appreciated. While these touches are not guaranteed, they could enhance the overall guest experience.

Could be tricky. Might be an idea to have mattress and pillow covers. Fan in shower room not operating and there was some damp in corridor by bedroom door. Assume was rain getting under roof tiles and running down internal wall. Needs attention. However, I loved location and out look, and suspect in the sunshine must be amazing. Perfect for short walks in the rain with my dog and waking to just the sound of pheasants and blackbirds was spot on. Calm and peaceful despite Debiâs worst!

Clean and well maintained although it did have a smell of wet dog so I assume there had been a dog with previous customers. Lovely setting and very tranquil. Will definitely be back.

You are very close to Beatrix Potter's house and have plenty of great scenery and walks close by. Aside from the fact that the lake district is now ever more expensive than ever before with car parking and food rocketing plus quality declining the cottage was great.
