Guests say

Via Alta is a property with stunning views and a prime location for walking enthusiasts, offering a cosy atmosphere, especially during stormy weather. The property has received praise for its warmth, comfortable lounge, and en-suite facilities in every room. Some guests have noted issues with cleanliness and maintenance, but recent management changes have led to improvements. The local pub is a short walk away, adding to the property's appeal.

Cleanliness has been a concern, with several guests reporting the property as dirty, dusty, and having dead flies. However, a recent review under new management mentioned the property being spotless, indicating potential improvement.

The location is consistently praised for its exceptional views and proximity to walking trails. The nearby pub is also a highlight, contributing to the property's high rating in this category.

Comfort has been rated positively for warmth and cosiness, particularly with the log burner during a storm. However, some guests mentioned uncomfortable beds and feeble showers, slightly lowering the score.

Facilities have received mixed feedback. Guests appreciated the en-suite rooms and the well-equipped property, but also reported issues with WiFi, broken appliances, and a lack of kitchen equipment. Maintenance concerns have been raised, affecting the score.

There is insufficient information to score thoughtfulness accurately. While a welcome pack was mentioned as a nice-to-have, there is no consistent reference to gifts or additional thoughtful touches provided by the owner, thus the score is set to null.

There lounge upstairs was brilliant and it’s rare to see an en-suite in every room. My only gripes would be the small kitchen and a lack of space to store boots before heading upstairs (it’s a squeak having six people head back in from the pouring rain!), but not sure how that could be resolved. The WiFi was also not working, however we had mobile signal at the property so this wasn’t required. The short walk to the excellent pub up the road was a great option for those not wanting to cook. Overall it was a wonderful stay and would definitely return again.

The property( under the new management) was spotless and very comfortable. It was very cosy especially as we were there during Storm Darragh!! The log burner was such a bonus during the storm and made the lovely lounge very cosy. The property was very well equipped and had everything we needed make a very enjoyable stay. It’s a great location for walkers and the Mortal Man pub is just a very short walk from the front door. Beautiful views, gorgeous area. We will be back!!

Really good location and amazing views from the property. Issues with WiFi but not the owners fault who tried very hard to resolve the issue. We managed to break the key in the lock but luckily we had the owners number who came around with replacement keys straight away. We could not get hold of Sykes on their emergency number. One minor issue - my daughter stayed in the smaller double room and suggests the bed needs a topper as the bed was uncomfortable due to ridges in the matress. The property was warm and comfortable and we would return.
