Tucked away in a green and peaceful valley between the celebrated lakes of Coniston Water and Windermere, we're sure you will instantly fall in love with Bobbin Beck Cottage and its pretty garden next to the river.
The outer old-world charm of this picturesque Satterthwaite cottage extends to the interior, where you will be transported to an earlier age by the rugged slate-flagged flooring. Exposed stonework, wooden lintels, oak furnishings, and beams in the comfortable bedrooms all combine to give you that true Lakeland cottage experience.
The hamlet of Force Forge, on the fringes of the forest of Grizedale, is gloriously isolated, and yet still only a short stroll from a village pub, the Eagle's Head at Satterthwaite. There is nothing more welcome than a pint here, some food, or one of the regular gigs of live music after a day exploring the walking trails of the beautiful forest, taking on the nearby Go Ape adventure course, or climbing the high peaks of the Lake District round about.
With wood-burning stoves in the living-room and the country dining kitchen, you will always be cosy, even when the winter snows are falling about the cottage, and on fine days, the little garden, with its patio and stone stairway leading down to the river, is the perfect place to sit out and soak in the peace and fresh air of this idyllic corner of Lakeland.

Satterthwaite enjoys a peaceful, picturesque location between the lakes of Coniston and Windermere, just south of Hawkshead village. The sleepy hamlet is surrounded by a natural playground of stunning landscapes to explore; a great base for walking and outdoor adventure as well as for escaping the everyday rush.
To the north, Grizedale Forest is an intriguing network of walking routes, cycle paths and sculpture trails. Lake Windermere lies to the east, and a car-ferry crossing can take you across the lake to explore the lively attractions of Bowness village.
Also close by is the village of Near Sawrey, where Beatrix Potter famously lived and was inspired to write her children's stories. Visit the author's home at Hill Top and explore her favourite places; such as Esthwaite Water and Moss Eccles Tarn.

Instructions and information made our stay easy and enjoyable. Thereâs nothing we didnât need and the cottage is full of games, movies and books to keep you entertained on rainy or slow afternoons. Thank you for making our trip to the Lake District one to remember! Weâll be back.

We had an amazing Christmas, right on grizedale for the bikes and the local pub is superb! We had an issue with the toilet there which was reported and fixed within a matter of hours so the after service is spot on! I agree with some comments that the sofas are a little past their use by date but it didnât cause problems, beds were super comfy! Havenât slept that well in a long time! Overall cleanliness is ok but could probably do with a deep clean to get to the bits the regular cleaning cannot cover in a quick clean but again, it wasnât an issue as the usual areas were all fine. The main bathroom does have an issue under the floorboards by the toilet, either a leak or too much condensation but the floor is saturated and you get wet feet when you walk on it! Regarding the neighbour â¦.. donât be put off, maybe could be a little more understanding but equally I wasnât on holiday to see the neighbour so didnât really matter Overall a lovely place to spend Christmas, the decorations and tree were a nice touch too!
