The flat is well equipped (no dishwasher) and in easy reach of Bowness on Windermere. It probably only takes 10 minutes to walk to the centre of Windermere, passing plenty of great takeaways and restaurants on the way.Whilst we loved the location of Claife, unfortunately we found the cleanliness lacking. Upon arrival, we were greeted with an extremely strong smell of curry which was unpleasant. Then, as we entered the flat, we realised that many aspects of the flat hadn’t been cleaned very well. The bathroom floor was covered in hairs, and unfortunately we found hairs and bits in all of the beds. Not just one or two, but quite a few, so we had to hoover the bedding. As we had arrived after 5.30 we didn’t think we would be able to get hold of anyone to sort it. The floor around the dining table hadn’t been hoovered well either. It was as if the cleaner had rushed through and missed bits out.After spending an hour cleaning up so we could feel comfortable, we realised the welcome pack that the flat is supposed to have was missing. I contacted the owner to let them know this (as per the directions in the literature left at the flat) and to let them know about the cleaning issues. He promised to get a welcome pack delivered and to let the firm responsible for the cleaning know about the cleaning issues. Unfortunately we never received the welcome pack and we never heard from him again. I’d sent him photos of the cleaning issues as well. We were disappointed with the customer service and felt that this could have been better. Overall, Claife is a nice flat in a beautiful part of the world. It’s a shame we had a bad experience with the cleanliness.

The apartment is ideally located a short walk from Bowness where there are lots of eateries to choose from as well as a good selection of shops. Everything was spotless when we arrived and one of the best equipped we’ve had.

Great location, very clean, good for what we wanted. Its run by a company so no personal touches but the added Christmas decor was lovely! Only thing bringing the review down is we were only given half a loo roll, no sponge, 3 wine glases and 1 small frying pan- so the amenities could have been better.
