Guests say

22 Thirlmere in Windermere is a cosy and spacious lodge with comfortable furnishings, including a hot tub, and is situated in a great location for exploring. It is well-equipped and dog-friendly, with an enclosed decking area. The property offers a warm stay even during cold snaps and is praised for its comfortable beds and added amenities like TVs in every room.

Guests that stayed at this property said

Several guests reported issues with cleanliness, mentioning the need for a more thorough cleaning and attention to detail. Complaints included dirty kitchen cupboards, cobwebs, and dust. However, some guests found the lodge clean and tidy upon arrival.

The lodge is highly praised for its location, offering easy access to Windermere and Ambleside, and proximity to the lake for activities like paddle boarding. The quiet and beautiful setting is consistently appreciated by guests.

Guests find the beds comfortable and the living space spacious and cosy. The lodge provides a warm environment, even in colder weather, and the hot tub is a highlight for relaxation. Some guests, however, felt the lodge was a bit tired and in need of some TLC.

The lodge is well-equipped for self-catering, with a well-stocked kitchen and comfortable furniture. The hot tub is a popular feature, although some guests reported maintenance issues. There were also comments about the need for better Wi-Fi and updates to some of the fixtures.

While some guests mentioned the provision of dog bowls and poo bags, and one suggested the idea of a welcome basket, there is not enough consistent information about thoughtful touches or gifts to provide a score. It should be noted that while some guests appreciated certain gestures, such gifts are not guaranteed.

It says ‘pet friendly’ but they will charge you if you so much as leave a muddy foot print. I thought it would be standard to clean in between customers but apparently they only deep clean at the beginning and end of the season which is pretty gross.

Then floors were scruffy, beans, crumbs, crisps dirty floors, the cupboards were no better, sticky and dirty, again had to clean them before food could be put away, phoned owner, she said she would send a cleaner, at 19.38?.we had already started to clean, as we could not unpack and we needed to put food away. The windows were scruffy, you could not see out of them, owner said they had been cleaned 3 weeks previously ?. She asked for photos, which we sent. And we still waiting for a response from the owner! we had a long journey, and were hoping to relax . Not what you expect when arriving at what you expect to be a 4.2star rating. Totally unacceptable standards. We finally got in hot tub at 9 o’clock, only to find the water temperature was just warm, the temperature button did not work so could not be turned up or down. So had to come out as it was too cold to sit in. Phoned hot tub guy, told agin send a photo of the fault. Someone would be out the next morning. The guy who came out could not fix the fault. The next guy didn’t come out until Monday morning, this is day 4 of our supposedly hot tub holiday . To be told they are aware that there is an ongoing fault, and it will not be fixed until the winter?. This lodge should be deep cleaned and hot tub fixed, before they disappoint and totally spoil another family’s holiday. Also Sykes holiday cottages who advertise this log cabin, have duty to their customers. They also are aware of the ongoing problems, and choose to still advertise this cabin, knowing how many problems there are. They obviously do not take customer complaints seriously, but they both happy to take your hard earned money.

The lodge was clean and presentable and had all the facilitates you needed. The location of the lodge was lovely but it did feel like other lodges were very close.
