The settlement, which is made up of a variety of homes, cottages, and farms, is dispersed along a curvy road that is enclosed by a drystone wall. Most of these structures are from the 17th century and have characteristics like mullioned windows and large cylindrical chimneys. The northern end also has a 17th-century inn. The thriving towns of Windermere and Ambleside nearby are well-liked by tourists and offer a variety of amenities to suit all preferences.
