About this property

March House was built by the current owners and is a lovely Lakeland property situated just a mile from the vibrant village of Windermere in the heart of the Lakes. Commanding breathtaking views of the surrounding countryside and wonderful sunsets in the evening, the house is a dream come true for a family or small group.

The stunning Orrest Head viewpoint can be reached easily via a short walk across the field and through Common Woods. This was the very first Lakeland walk chronicled by author Alfred Wainwright and inspired his pictorial guides to the Lakeland Fells.

The first floor living space and master bedroom were designed to make the most of the views, whilst the large dual aspect lounge is the ideal room to relax with others, enjoying the views or the cosy log burning stove. There’s also a large kitchen i with views out to the garden and the Lakeland Fells beyond. In the master bedroom there are more fantastic views, an ensuite bathroom and a dressing room. Should you want to relax, the reading room is a peaceful spot in which to escape, enjoy a book and admire the scenery.

Well kept gardens offer fresh air and al-fresco living on a sunny day and are also great for children to play in. This stylish property offers guests a holiday to remember.

The twin towns of Bowness and Windermere are both vibrant, fun-filled places set within the splendid scenery of the Lake District. Both towns provide a range of amenities, shops and restaurants to suit all tastes whilst Ambleside offers the additional attraction of a boat ride to Bowness, the Lakeside Aquarium and Beatrix Potter's 'Hill Top House' at Sawrey. Grizedale Forest Park is within easy driving distance and is home to a range of activities including many good walks, mountain biking and the 'Go Ape' adventure park. The region also boasts many National Trust properties as well as a variety of water sports for those who prefer a more adrenaline-fuelled trip. Children will enjoy a trip to the 'World of Beatrix Potter' in Bowness whilst the villages of Grasmere, Coniston Water, Kendal, Keswick and the Lakeland Mountains are all within easy reach.

Comfortable furnishings and well equipped. A great place for a wonderful holiday. Maybe increase the amount of crockery to more than items to use dishwasher effectively. A coffee machine would be an ideal addition.

Tired in places (threadbare carpet on the stairs) and in need of some maintenance. Some gutters were leaking, there was a bees nest in the eaves in the roof above the front door and the chimney had a crows nest in it. Good thing we didn’t try to light the fire! Generally had everything we needed, but really needs a proper kitchen bin. Most items were IKEA, which is fine, but not really a ‘high quality’ feel. V conveniently located for accessing Windermere, bowness and Ambleside. After a long, long, drive, it would have been nice if there had been a tea bag available. Something other than electric showers would have been good too.
