Set in a quiet cul-de-sac only yards from the heart of this popular village, School Knott Cottage on the site of the old Kodak building, is ideally placed for exploring such delights as the wonderful walking, shopping, touring and restaurants this area has to offer. With easy access to the main road Ambleside, Grasmere and Keswick are soon reached. Just five minutes up the road it is ideally placed for Rail travellers, Booths Supermarket and the famous Lakeland shop.
Orrest Head, the famous viewpoint, is only a short walk away where stunning views over Lake Windermere and School Knott can be seen. Bowness on Lake Windermere with its wealth of shops and restaurants and lake cruises is just a nice stroll down the road (approx. 1 mile).
The owners have thoughtfully refurbished the cottage to provide stylish, quality accommodation, using a base of neutral colours with clever splashes of colour throughout to create a most individual yet classic look. With a large screen television in the living room, large comfortable, deep cushioned leather sofas, solid oak furniture, a flame effect electric fire set in a marble fireplace, and a library of books. To quote the Guest Book ’a home from home with everything anyone could possibly need’ and ‘a thousand times better than we expected’.

The Carthage was very comfortable with plenty of room for us and our two late teen sons. We utilised the games provided with lots of laughs. The cottage was so convenient for supermarkets, restaurants and takeaways. I’m glad I don’t have a particularly big car as the parking was a bit challenging at times. The only things which could have made our stay a bit easier would have been some sharp knives and scissors in the kitchen and more than one small tea towel. Having a washing machine and dryer was very useful after long damp walks. Will definitely recommend

Nice cottage, great location close to town. Well equipped kitchen. Plenty of books, games etc was nice. Lovely bright bathroom with loads of space for toiletries. Nice comfy beds and good quality sheets ! Nice thin duvet for the warm weather which I was so happy with! - Pillows a bit on the hard side but other than that we had a great stay. Only thing I noticed was a smell downstairs ? smoke when you come in to house when windows were shut for a while and suggestions I would make would be to add a voile curtain to main bedroom window for privacy and a fan for the summer months.

Well equiped cottage for 4 persons. Very convenient and within walking distance of Windermere railway station were there are also good bus links . Even though you are close to the shops in Windermere cottage was very quiet.
