The Belfry in Windermere is a well-received cottage, praised for its prime location, high-quality furnishings, and the addition of a hot tub. Guests appreciate the property's cleanliness, comfortable beds, and the thoughtful touches such as a welcome tray. While some guests mention issues with maintenance and comfort, the overall sentiment is positive, with many looking forward to returning.
Most guests found The Belfry clean and well-presented. However, there were mentions of mould and mustiness in some rooms, and an instance of old food left in the breadbin. These issues seem to be isolated rather than widespread.
The location is highly praised for being quiet yet conveniently close to Windermere town centre, with easy access to local amenities and attractions. The narrow entrance was noted but did not significantly detract from the overall positive feedback.
Guests generally found the beds comfortable and the property well-furnished. However, there were comments about uncomfortable sofas and dining seating, as well as issues with a musty smell in the ground floor area.
The property is well-equipped with quality kitchenware and a hot tub, which is frequently mentioned and appreciated. Nonetheless, guests reported maintenance issues such as problems with heating, hot water, and appliances, which suggests room for improvement.
Guests were delighted by thoughtful touches like a welcome tray and the provision of hot tub towels and glasses. While these gifts enhance the experience, it is noted that such offerings may vary and are not guaranteed.

The engineer arrived quite quickly but was just a plumber and knew nothing about the new heat pump that had just been installed so he supplied some electric heaters that worked fine. A second engineer turned up two days later, fiddled with the controls and said it would work after 30 minute and left - unfortunately it still didnât work! Hot tub was lovely but was located in a position that was overlooked by other properties and had open access (no bolt on gate) so anyone could use it while we were out. Neither of the above detracted from a lovely holiday.

Small bedroom is extra small not sure if you may consider extending it a bit if possible. Throw blanket in the living room needs washing. Otherwise the rest was excellent my family and I enjoyed our stay at the Belfry.
