Guests say

Black Dog Lodge in Windermere is highly praised for its cleanliness, comfort, and prime location close to the lake, making it an ideal base for exploring the Lake District. Guests appreciate the thoughtful welcome packs and the lodge's dog-friendly policy. While some minor issues with Wi-Fi and on-site facilities were mentioned, the overall experience is one of relaxation and enjoyment, with many guests expressing a desire to return.

Most guests found the lodge to be very clean and well-maintained, with several positive comments about its cleanliness. However, a few reviews mentioned issues such as mould, leftover dog biscuits, and a smell of vomit in one of the rooms, which slightly lowers the score.

The lodge's location is consistently praised for its proximity to the lake and local amenities, making it a perfect spot for guests looking to explore the Lake District. The scenic setting and easy access to outdoor activities contribute to a high score.

Guests describe the lodge as comfortable and cosy, with comfortable beds and a homely atmosphere. The presence of a hot tub adds to the comfort level, although there were some comments about the lack of powerful jets and the desire for larger towels.

While the lodge itself is well-equipped and guests are happy with the in-lodge amenities, there are several complaints about the on-site facilities, including Wi-Fi issues, clubhouse service, and maintenance work during a stay. These external factors affect the overall facilities score.

The welcome packs and dog treats are frequently mentioned and appreciated by guests, indicating a high level of thoughtfulness from the owners. It should be noted that such gestures, while common, are not guaranteed for every stay.

All the beds were very comfy and nicely styled. The cabin is very clean for being dog friendly. On the day of arrival the place was warm and welcoming and a lovely welcome gift which was appreciated by dogs too. The cabin is situated a short walk to main reception and other facilities on the site. Windermere is only two miles away. Would recommend and will be back again.

This is a home away from home, the most tasteful decorated lodge we have stayed in, with excellent facilities and close to the marina. The location was perfect for exploring all local areas Ambleside, Windermere, Bowness-on-Windermere. The lodge was so clean for a dog friendly lodge and we loved our little doggy welcome gift (so did Athena
