Guests say

Wansfell Lodge in Windermere is a well-regarded holiday rental with guests praising its comfortable furnishings, stunning lake views, and prime location. The lodge is family and dog friendly, offering a cosy and warm atmosphere. Despite some concerns over cleanliness and maintenance, the property's overall charm and the hosts' good communication have led to repeated visits and recommendations.

Reviews indicate a mix of experiences with cleanliness. Some guests found the lodge to be spotless, while others noted issues with dust, dog hair, and outdoor upkeep. The inconsistency leads to a slightly above-average score.

The location is highly praised for its breathtaking views and proximity to local towns and the lake. It is considered perfect for exploring the surrounding areas, contributing to a high score.

Guests have found the lodge to be comfortable, with special mentions of the cosy atmosphere and comfortable beds. However, suggestions for blackout curtains and a shelf in the shower indicate room for improvement.

The lodge is well-equipped with a large fridge freezer and dishwasher, but guests noted a lack of instructions for appliances and issues with Wi-Fi. The need for better maintenance of the balcony and outdoor furniture also affects the score.

There is no mention of gifts or special touches that would indicate thoughtfulness from the hosts. Therefore, this category cannot be scored.

Good food in the restaurant and the site is in a beautiful area with the lake close by. The lodge was not as clean as it could have been, the en suite shower was dirty and had bits and hair in it and the 2 single beds were well past their best with toppers on to cover sunken mattresses. My adult son was not impressed! However this didn't spoil our first trip to the Lake District and we had glorious weather. Hopefully, we will return but not to that lodge.

Great location on the park just a short stroll from the lake and all the facilities. We have stayed at White Cross Bay many times and this is one the best spots we have stayed at. Well maintained. Lovely owners who were very accommodating. Shame we didn’t get to enjoy the decking due to wet weather as would have been lovely to sit outside!

The only niggle was that the en suite shower could do with a shelf to accommodate shower gel/shampoo etc We had a really enjoyable stay (despite the weather!) and would certainly recommend it.
