Many of the homes in Snettisham, a classic Norfolk village, are constructed from the local iron-rich carr stone, giving them an appealing golden-brown hue. The locals have taken to calling them "gingerbread houses" because of this. There are convenience stores, a post office, two hotels, a cafe, and a bus stop that runs often to the nearby towns of Hunstanton (a popular seaside destination for families) and King's Lynn (a historic town). The church of St. Mary stands alone atop the hill, and its west window, with its intricate tracery flowers, is well worth a visit. The beach is only three miles away, and there is an rspb bird sanctuary near the shore. Additionally, the historic Peddars Way public footpath passes through the neighbourhood. Located just outside of town, Park Farm is a working farm where visitors of all ages may enjoy activities like a 45-minute "deer safari" and the opportunity to feed the animals. Norfolk Lavender is England's premier lavender farm, and its plant farm, tea rooms, and gift store are conveniently located near the Royal Estate of Sandringham, which is home to the monarchy but is available to the public.

Fabulous host, plumber round within an hour to fix blocked shower tray. Wonderful secure garden for children and dog. Every possible utensil you would ever need in the kitchen. Games galore. At the end of the day we had comfy beds to snooze ready for the next day of adventures.

The location is first rate (pubs, Coop, restaurants within 3 minutes walk) as is the location of Snettisham for access to coast and other destinations. Just right for a large family or a group of friends - you can be together or find a bit of space.

Perfect for 7 people and our German shepherd so much space for us all to be together or have our own space. The garden photos didn't do the property justice, it was just brilliant. Tastefully decorated throughout, and hearing the queen mother had tea in the front lounge went down very well. We saw a few people taking photos of 'our cottage'. Breakfast at the Old Store and tea at the Rose and Crown recommended and a daily sourdough loaf (award winning) disappeared very quickly !! Even got a painting of the Bakehouse at a Snettisham Art sale. Loads of walks in every direction from the house. We loved this house and Snettisham.
