With its gracious proportions, lovely furnishings and features that include an acre of walled gardens, an indoor pool and a tennis court, it's no wonder that Edgar Farmhouse is a favourite for family reunions and holidays with friends. Whether you're a group of hens celebrating before a wedding or hosting your family for Christmas, this holiday home is ideal for a self-catering break. The farmhouse is in Walsingham, 14 miles from Norwich, within easy reach of the North Norfolk coast and popular attractions like Sandringham and beWILDerwood.
Edgar Farmhouse is a beautiful redbrick holiday home in the Norfolk village of Walsingham, sleeping 20 people in eight stylishly decorated bedrooms. It's played host to family reunions, celebrations of milestone birthdays and anniversaries, and relaxed holidays with friends. With amenities that include an all-weather tennis court, a heated indoor swimming pool, and an acre of walled gardens, it's the ideal big holiday home for a self-catering holiday in all seasons. Edgar Farmhouse is on a quiet country lane with panoramic views over neighbouring fields. Despite its rural feel, it's less than five miles from the coast at Wells next the Sea.
Walsingham has hosted visitors for a thousand years as the pilgrimage site with a shrine to the Virgin Mary. It remains a focus for prayer and reflection, giving the village a restorative sense of peace and unity. As well as its historic shrine, Walsingham has an excellent farm shop and is a terminus for the heritage narrow-gauge steam train to Wells next the Sea. A 30-minute journey on this tiny train is a wonderful way to go to the beach. The beach and town at Wells next the Sea are a mile apart and separated by two paths (smooth and gravel) for walking and cycling between the two. Take your binoculars as the dunes are a haven for plovers and other sea birds, and you might be lucky enough to see grey seals sunning themselves on the sand. Wells next the Sea has a fishing port with walls popular for crabbing and a wide choice of places to eat and drink.
Attractions local to Edgar Farmhouse include the splendid Palladian Holkham Hall, the ruins of Walsingham Abbey, and Pensthorpe Gardens. Stock up at Winhill Norfolk Cider, catch a film or a live performance at Wells Maltings and play golf. Holt, Fakenham, Blakeney, and Burnham Market are within easy reach, as is the royal estate of Sandringham and the fragrant fields of Norfolk Lavender.
