The surrounding meadowlands provide great walking opportunities, with nearby woodland paths providing the chance to enjoy much of the local wildlife. Middleton-in-Teesdale offers many local pubs, tea rooms and restaurants, whilst the nearby market town of Barnard Castle, with its cobbled streets and quaint lanes, attracts visitors all year round. Slightly further afield, the Northern Dales are waiting to be discovered and visits to medieval Raby Castle with its deer park, Bowes Museum, High Force Waterfall and Egglestone Hall Gardens are not to be missed. A superb retreat to return to after days spent exploring.
