This eco-friendly, cosy holiday cottage creates its own electricity by photo-voltaic roof tiles, and is adjacent to a cattle and sheep farm, a mile from Eggleston. The converted cattle byre with level access and wide doorways, provides a picturesque countryside retreat. Durham city, 25 miles, has a 12th century cathedral, boutiques in cobbled streets, the Victorian market, restaurants and galleries. Visit the Lake District, Yorkshire Dales and Northumberland. A car would be preferable as shops and local ammenities are not within walking distance. Historic Barnard Castle on the River Tees is 6 miles. Shops 2 miles, pubs 1 mile.
Initial fuel for the woodburner included, thereafter available locally at cost. Additional double bed settee. Maximum sleeps 2 adults and 2 children. One dog only at £25.00 and this to be paid to the owner via bacs transfer 10 days prior to arrival, or entry will be refused.

Beautiful cottage to have a relaxing holiday in. Very comfortable and homely. Excellently stocked throughout. Only downside there's no internet. Enjoy the sheep and rabbits while you sit outside. Barnard Castle is a lovely town with a castle, independent shops, Morrisons and plenty of places to eat. Free parking on the cobbles. Wendy is a lovely host, explains the cottage and local area.

We had a lovely time. The rabbits and sheep at the back of the property for late summer evening drinks outside was a highlight. It was well kept and beautifully quiet with excellent connections. Wendy was lovely and very helpful for any needs we had that came up and there was good connections to the surrounding attractions.
