Situated on the spectacular hillside of Bolts Law and encompassed by idyllic countryside views of the North Pennines Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty is the stunning cottage, Bolt’s View, housing a group of five for an adventure-filled escape to County Durham. Enter the property, being delighted by beautiful views of rolling hills surrounding, and into a homely abode, welcomed by a convenient utility room and into a well-equipped kitchen/diner which includes an American style fridge freezer, big enough to store more than enough food and drink for the week ahead. Rustle up a hearty meal after a day of adventure in this country-style room before setting the dining table and tucking into a sociable evening meal, accompanied by a bottle of wine. Spend a frosty evening inside and gather around the toasty woodburning stove, letting the TV entertain you and the serene views create a peaceful atmosphere.Across the drive you will find an enclosed terrace garden space with a handy shed for bike storage during your stay! Retire upstairs to one of three delightful bedrooms, the master king-size room with an en-suite shower and heated rail, a spacious twin which can be made into a super-king-size on request, and a lovely single with a Velux window, all rooms boast characterful features of beams. Guests can prepare for their days in the sleek shower room, a chic space where you can wake up underneath warm speckles of water in the walk-in shower. Take a stroll out of the cottage and into the tranquil village of Rookhope, steeped in mining history dating back to 13th century, with the very last mine closing in 1999, now the village boasts a quaint village store/Post Office. Set off on a number of walking trails, cycling routes and bridleways, accessable from the bottom of the garden, including the Pennine Journey, a circular 270 mile, which is a Wainwright walk, alongside pretty views of serene landscapes, as well as an abundance of outdoor adventure throughout the Pennines and Bolt’s Law, over to charming villages accessed throughout the South Tyne valleys and Allendale. Visit the nearby market town of Stanhope, meandering around a wealth of shopping facilities, cultural art galleries, fine dining restaurants and country pubs, alongside a popular indoor swimming pool and the Coast to Coast cycle route, spanning over 140 miles and resting on the railway line close to the cottage. Venture over to the bustling city of Durham, exploring the ancient cathedral, Norman castle, medieval Crook Hall, and the dreamy Botanic Garden found at the university, where you'll find exotic plants and wildlife. Other must-see attractions in the nearby area include the Auckland Project, Auckland Castle, High Force Waterfall and the Derwent Reservoir. Whilst staying at Bolt's View, make sure to discover the Pennine Journey long-distance walking path, and the wealth of stunning countryside during a memorable escape.

Rookhope is a historic mining village found in County Durham, situated in the North Pennines aonb, home to a village store, local pub and a handy garage. Nearby is the market town of Stanhope offering an even wider selection of shops, pubs, restaurants, cafés, art galleries, a swimming pool, and a scenic riverside location, as well as the C2C cycle route. The city of Durham is within easy reach, as is Hadrian's Wall, while Hamsterley Forest, Killhope Lead Mining Museum and Barnard Castle are also worth a visit.

The surrounding area is just stunning. Miles of green, a view of horses from one window and alpacas from the other. The property is dog friendly, they provided dog towels and bowls. There is a porch on either side of the house so you can dry off the dogs without dragging mud in. If you do however they leave you very well equipped with hoover/mop so you can keep it clean. This might be the best stocked rental we have ever stayed in. Knowing we were cooking a Christmas dinner we brought our own oven trays, yorkie trays, etc but we needn’t have, it had everything we could have possibly needed and more. The oven was brilliant and the fridge and freezer were more than ample for our Christmas food and drinks. On our drive there we remembered we forgot our firestick, so we could watch Christmas films on Christmas Eve, didn’t need to worry about that either, the TV was a smart tv and had excellent WiFi. The bedrooms were more than big enough, and the shower pressure, well I miss it already. We made plenty use of the wood burner in the front room and the stocked games cupboard. There was simply nothing missing from our stay. It was very clean and we hope to come back.
