Tow Law is a small town and civil parish in County Durham, not far from Consett and Crook. Durham is about 10 miles distant and may be reached by vehicle or public transportation along the main A68 highway. The village has a few stores, cafés, and local enterprises, with the Church of St Philip and St James standing out as a notable piece of architecture. Tow Law draws its name from the Old English tot hlaw, which means "lookout mound," and was the name of a house that stood there before the village and iron works were built.
