Set between the pretty market towns of Bishop Auckland and Barnard Castle, is the sleepy little village of Butterknowle. Beautiful walking country is right on the doorstep, with the North Pennines easily discovered just a few miles away, whilst an array of interesting towns and a wealth of historic attractions can all be enjoyed within an easy drive.

It was like the Yorkshire Dales but without the crowds! The accomodation was excellent and the location was central for visiting Durham (stunning), Barnard Castle, Middleton in Teesdale and more. There are numerous, beautiful walks around Middleton and from the property. The owners are on hand if needed and the welcome pack was a nice touch. We have added this to our short list of places to return to and we will be back!

Located 10/15 minute drive from Bishop Auckland in a lovely rural area, perfect for a quiet getaway break. Will definitely be going back.
