Softley view is located in Stanhope castles private grounds in the market town of Stanhope. The local high street is just outside of the castle with a large selection of shops, pubs and the Durham Dales visitor centre is opposite the entrance. Stanhope is an ancient market town set in the Wear Valley in the North Pennines aonb and 22 miles away from the city of Durham. Within the town you will find a good selection of pubs, specialist food stores, coffee shops, art galleries, a heated outdoor swimming pool and riverside walks, plus the town is on the C2C cycle route. Attractions within the area include Hamsterley Forest, Killhope Lead Mining Museum and Barnard Castle.

Could not fault the holiday accommodation, it was clean and well equipped and very comfortable and was also nice and peaceful. We had a lovely day in both Durham and Beamish and the surrounding area is very beautiful. All in all we had a lovely stay.

Really enjoyed our stay here watching The Races! Weâve been to a few of the Stanhope properties now and weâve never been disappointed! Any problems or any queries and the owners are amazing. Always go above and beyond for the people staying in their accommodation. Would definitely come back and would always recommend them to everyone else!
