Guests say

Stonebank Cottage is a spacious and clean property with comfortable beds and a hot tub, set in a peaceful location ideal for exploring Durham and the surrounding areas. Guests appreciated the thoughtful touches such as wine and chocolates, though these are not guaranteed. Some improvements are suggested for facilities and maintenance.

The cottage is consistently described as clean and spotless, with comfortable beds, indicating a high level of cleanliness throughout the property.

The location is praised for its beautiful views and proximity to Durham and Bishop Auckland. However, some guests noted a lack of local amenities and difficulty with takeaway deliveries.

Guests found the beds very comfortable and the cottage spacious. The steep stairs were a concern for some, particularly those with mobility issues.

The hot tub is a highlight, but there are recurring comments about non-working log burners and the need for better bathroom facilities and window coverings. Some guests experienced allergic reactions in the living room.

While guests mentioned receiving wine and chocolates, which were well-received, there is not enough information to assess the consistency of these gestures across all stays, so the score is set to null. It should be noted that such gifts are not guaranteed.

Brilliant stay and a really great Christmas . Hot tub was a hit with the kids and us as parents . Very spacious house and comfortable beds. Not that many local amenities but Durham was just a few minutes away . We loved how quiet it was . Takeaways didn’t deliver but we didn’t mind driving 10 minutes to collect our food . The wine and chocolate were the beautiful. Thank you 🤩

Clean and comfortable large house but very steep stairs. Hot tub too hit on arrival. No local amenities, the 1 pub nearby is not actually a proper pub in real sense of the word. Takeaways wouldn't deliver to the address. Log burner advertised on listing but looks like not worked for year or 2 and was not advised beforehand as was main point of booking and bought extra wood for it now useless and out of pocket. Feel like a few small things could make huge difference ie shower screen/ curtain and black out blinds or curtains in bedrooms. Overall disappointing stay.

a lovely big cottage with great views, very spacious with all you need for a comfortable stay with the added bonus of the hot tub at the end of the garden, the steep stairs are a little tricky to start but you get used to them.it was a shame the log burner wasn't in working order as we were looking forward to that but all in all a nice stay.
