Guests say

John Wesley Cottage receives high praise for its spaciousness, cleanliness, and well-equipped facilities. Guests consistently highlight the peaceful countryside setting, yet appreciate its convenient proximity to local attractions such as Beamish, Durham, and Newcastle. The cottage is described as cosy, comfortable, and tastefully furnished, with a responsive and welcoming host. While a few guests mention minor issues such as the lack of a second bathroom or some beds being firm, the overall experience is overwhelmingly positive, making it an excellent choice for families and groups seeking a relaxing break in the North East.

Cleanliness is frequently mentioned as a standout feature, with multiple guests describing the cottage as spotlessly clean, immaculately presented, and well maintained. Only one review references a negative experience, which appears to be an isolated incident.

The location is highly rated, with guests appreciating the tranquil countryside setting combined with easy access to attractions like Beamish Museum, Durham, and Newcastle. The cottage is also noted as being easy to find and conveniently close to shops and amenities.

Guests generally find the cottage very comfortable, with cosy furnishings and spacious living areas. Some mention extremely comfortable beds, though a few note that certain mattresses are a bit firm or could be replaced. The peaceful environment and effective heating add to the comfort.

Facilities are praised for being comprehensive and high quality, including a well-equipped kitchen, modern bathroom, reliable WiFi, and ample parking. The only recurring suggestion is the addition of a second toilet, especially for larger groups.

Guests appreciate the host's responsiveness, welcoming attitude, and attention to detail, such as providing dishwasher tablets and clear instructions. While some mention thoughtful touches, there are no specific references to gifts, so guests should note that such extras are not guaranteed.

It is rare to find holiday accommodation of such a high standard! Beautifully decorated and furnished, cosy and comfortable and with a superb kitchen for the keenest chef ☺️ Everything was provided, including rinse aid and salt for the dishwasher!A great base for visiting Beamish, Durham, The Angel of the North and Whitley Bay. The owners are on site if you have any issues but they allow guests their privacy. Thank you Heather and family.

Pleasant, comfortable, peaceful stay. Something broke during our stay and someone came out and fixed it the same day. Tip - if your sat nav takes you down a horrendous narrow track (like mine did), unless you are driving a tractor reverse out immediately. The actual driveway is a few yards away.
