Guests say

John Wesley Cottage receives high praise for its spaciousness, cleanliness, and well-equipped facilities. Guests consistently mention the peaceful countryside setting, yet appreciate its convenient proximity to local attractions such as Beamish, Durham, and Newcastle. The cottage is described as cosy, comfortable, and tastefully furnished, with a responsive and welcoming host. While some guests noted the lack of a second bathroom and a few found the beds firm, the overall experience is overwhelmingly positive, making it an ideal choice for families and groups seeking a relaxing break in the North East.

Cleanliness is frequently highlighted, with multiple guests describing the cottage as spotlessly clean, immaculately presented, and well maintained. Only one review mentioned a negative experience, which appears to be an isolated incident.

The location is highly praised for its tranquil countryside setting and easy access to attractions like Beamish, Durham, and Newcastle. Guests appreciate the balance of seclusion and convenience.

Most guests found the cottage very comfortable, with cosy furnishings and a relaxing atmosphere. A few reviews mention firm or uncomfortable beds, but this did not significantly detract from the overall comfort.

Facilities are described as excellent, with a well-equipped kitchen, modern bathroom, reliable WiFi, and ample parking. The main drawback noted is the single bathroom, which some found limiting for larger groups.

Guests frequently mention a welcoming and responsive host, as well as thoughtful touches such as Christmas decorations and ample supplies. While gifts are not specifically mentioned, the attention to detail and guest comfort is evident. Please note that any special touches or extras are not guaranteed.

The cottage was immaculately presented, spotlessly clean, and very spacious and well-appointed. Heating great, plenty parking, and very quiet despite not being particularly far from the road or the small town. Landlady was friendly and open, and could not have been more helpful. A really excellent stay in a cottage that is so handy for Beamish museum and the Tanfield railway, could not be better placed. First class stay, highly recommended!
