Ouston 3.6 miles. Bowes Barn is a fabulous two-storey barn conversion resting on a working arable farm on the outskirts of Ouston, Tyne and Wear. With easy access to the cities of Newcastle, Sunderland and Durham, this property is the ideal base for small families or couples looking to explore the North East. Finished to a high standard with both contemporary and traditional features, such as the exposed stone walls, the cottage is a lovely cottage offers a great place to return to after a day of sightseeing. The downstairs is entirely open-plan consisting of a well-equipped kitchen, dining and sitting area. Upstairs there are two well-presented bedrooms; a double and single, served by the family bathroom with bath, shower over, basin and WC. Settled in the charming County Durham within the North East of England, you will find the delightful village of Ouston. Home to a local newsagents selling all the household essentials, two well-established pubs and a tasty takeaway, this village has everything you could ever need during your stay. Spend a day at the nearby popular living museum of Beamish and learn what life was like in the North East during the 1820's, all the way up to the 1940's. we were greeted with half a dozen eggs from the resident egg layers, the home made cake was delicious, the beds super comfy. We had the impression that they wanted to do their best for us. Would we go again? In a shot.

Property owners live in the adjacent farmhouse and are able to help with any problems. It is in a very quiet area with plenty of footpaths to enable you to explore the countryside and watch the wildlife. However it takes only 8 minutes to reach Beamish and very easy routes to go to Gateshead, Newcastle or Durham. Well worthy of another visit.
