Once a charming art gallery overlooking the bay of Hartlepool historic headland, York Place Gallery now boasts a beautiful interior, with reminders of its past to bring you the best of a holiday home in County Durham. Providing spectacular views at any time of the year, this three-storey townhouse built in 1850 makes the perfect choice for all kinds of guests, including couples, friends and families, seeking a relaxing escape to the England's Heritage coast. Enter through the wrought iron gates and imagine relaxing on the sun lounger, making the perfect spot to enjoy a morning coffee amongst the fresh coastal breeze, before entering into the stylish snug area; boasting a warming woodburning stove at its centre and a plush faux leather seating arrangement, here you can enjoy unwinding each evening after a lovely day of exploring Hartlepool and County Durham. Observe the beautiful artwork on the walls, with unique pieces placed throughout by the owner and other local artists, there are plenty of alluring pieces throughout, with the downstairs area previously being open to the public as exhibition space for my own work and that of other local artists. The open-plan living space is sure to be the hub of your holiday, with the dining table taking centre stage where you can enjoy raising a toast over a delicious homemade meal, with a good range of appliances to assist you in all of your culinary requirements. Lounge before the television for a relaxing evening in, or slide open the bi folding doors and carry your conversation through to the enclosed terrace and catch the last of the evening sun. Make your way up to the first floor and spend some quiet time for yourself in the second lounge, throwing back the shutter blinds and look out across the bay and beyond down the long vista of the North East coast line, flicking on the gas fire as you curl up with a good book in one of the inviting armchairs.From the comfort of the lounge, keep your eyes peeled for the dolphins and seals which can be frequent visitors to the bay. It’s also a birdwatcher’s paradise with its resident seagulls, terns, oystercatchers, cormorants and

sandpipers, it’s also on the birds migratory path to The RSPB flagship at Saltholme – so don’t forget your

binoculars! Also on the first floor rests the double bedroom, with the skylight letting in an abundance of natural light there's no better spot to wake up each morning. NFext to the bedroom is the family bathroom where you can relax on the same floor where you can relax beneath the bubbles to begin each day. On the second floor is the twin bedroom, with contemporary shutter blinds letting you make the most of long vistas as well as an accompanying shower room for a refreshing start to your day of adventure. The local area boasts so much excitement; from the house take a stroll along the 1.5 mile promenade with is historic sandstone wall and follow the signposted history trail, or take a short drive to the award-winning marina, also pop into one of the local pubs or continue into the center of Hartlepool and be met by an award-winning marina hosting plenty of waterside bars and restaurants. There are many wonderful attractions just a stone's throw away too, including Saltholme RSPB Reserve where rich bird life and even seals can be spotted, National Museum of the Royal Navy with its recreation of an 18th century seaport and the National Glass Centre at Sunderland for a day out with a difference where you can try your hand at glass making, just to name a few. For the more active, the National Cycle Network Route 14 can be found in the local town and takes you all the way to Seaham, while the North York Moors National Park is well-worth venturing too for its spectacular scenery, enticing heritage and beautiful nature. In reach of the historic cities of Durham, York and so much more, York Place Gallery is a fantastic choice for your coastal escape.

Hartlepool is a bustling coastal town sitting amongst the North Sea coast in County Durham. In easy reach of both Durham itself and the beautiful North York Moors National Park, there's plenty to explore around this scenic base.
