Guests say

Northrawe boasts stunning views of Bamburgh Castle, with guests praising its prime location near the beach and village amenities. The property is described as clean, comfortable, and well-equipped, providing a cosy and warm atmosphere. While some maintenance issues are noted, the overall experience is highly regarded, making it a recommended stay in Northumberland.

Reviews generally indicate that Northrawe is clean and tidy, with several guests finding the property spotless. However, there are a few mentions of areas needing improvement, such as dust and dirty marks, which slightly lower the score.

The location receives high praise for its proximity to Bamburgh Castle, the beach, and local amenities. Guests consistently highlight the convenience and beauty of the setting, making it a standout feature of their stay.

Comfort is well-regarded with cosy beds and a warm atmosphere mentioned. Some guests, however, found the beds too firm and noted a lack of handrails in showers, which suggests room for improvement in this area.

Facilities are generally appreciated, especially the well-equipped kitchen and ensuite bathrooms. Nonetheless, reports of broken or outdated utensils, complicated appliances, and maintenance issues such as broken windows and furniture detract from the overall experience.

While the reviews mention welcome packs and the provision of basic amenities, there is no consistent reference to gifts or extra thoughtful touches that would warrant a score in this category. Therefore, the score is set to null.

The village’s sweeping sandy beaches and dramatic fortress - Bamburgh Castle - make Bamburgh one of Northumberland’s major visitor attractions. The castle can be seen for miles and dominates this part of the county’s coastline. Today it remains home to the family of the great Victorian industrialist Lord Armstrong, and is open to the public on a daily basis. Although overshadowed by the great castle, Bamburgh village is picturesque with neat grey stone cottages facing a manicured village green. There are excellent pubs, hotels with restaurants and a small selection of village shops. There are golf courses in Bamburgh and nearby Seahouses, and within easy reach are more wide sandy beaches, lovely fishing villages, stunning castles and coastal islands to explore along the dramatic Heritage Coast. There are numerous other attractions also a short drive away, including the famous Alnwick Castle and Gardens and the historic walled border town, Berwick-upon-Tweed. A superb base for exploring Northumberland.

While the cottage was clean, it is decidedly tired in places and some things just don't work - making the stay rather unpleasant. The underfloor heating in the shower room was not working and despite the radiator being on full, the room was baltic and unusable. The wi-fi was also useless - you could log onto the router but could not load a webpage, never mind Netflix on the TV. The flat is for sale and it looks like the owner has lost all interest in it as there are place where paint is peeling off the wall and black mould in the bathrooms. Such a shame as it could be a truly lovely place to stay;.

Also there were no handrails in the walk in shower which made life very difficult for my husband who needs them. Just for your information - the extractor fan in the en suite bathroom wasn’t working! Overall a lovely property in a perfect location.
