About this property

Coastguard Cottage sits right in Craster village, a stone's throw from Northumberland's stunning coastline. This four-bedroom self-catering cottage sleeps eight and has bags of character with reclaimed wood features and a crackling wood burner. You can walk straight onto the coastal path from the door, and Dunstanburgh Castle's dramatic ruins are just 1.5 miles along the cliff tops. The cottage has a ground floor double with en-suite, three more bedrooms upstairs, and a lovely deck overlooking the harbour. Craster's got a cracking gastropub and is famous for its delicious smoked kippers. This holiday rental puts you right where the action is.

Coastguard Cottage sits right in the heart of Craster, one of Northumberland's most loved fishing villages. This four-bedroom cottage sleeps eight and mixes original character - think reclaimed wood and quirky touches - with all the modern features families and friends look for in a comfortable self-catering break. You're literally steps from the harbour and can walk straight onto England's Coastal Path from the cottage door, stopping off at the Jolly Fisherman for a restorative pint on the way home.

Craster has a good little gastro-pub for dinner, a coffee shop for your favourite brew, and Craster's famous smoked kippers that you can buy fresh from the smokehouse. The harbour is lovely to wander around, and because the coastal path runs right through the village, you can set off on walks without getting in the car. You're spoilt for choice when it comes to exploring. Dunstanburgh Castle is an easy 1.5-mile walk along the coast - the ruins are spectacular and the views from up there are something else. Howick Hall is just 2.5 miles away if you fancy a proper day out featuring gorgeous gardens and a tea room where you can try Earl Grey at the Grey family's ancestral home. Set your beach chair up on the small sandy shore at Craster, or take a short drive for beach days at Embleton Beach and Longhoughton's Sugar Sands.

Northumberland's rich history is evident in its castles and historic houses, such as Cragside. Staying at Coastguard Cottage puts you within an easy drive of Alnwick, Bamburgh, Warkworth, and Chillingham Castles. Holy Island and Lindisfarne Castle are spectacular in all seasons, but watch the tide times or you may end up staying longer than you planned! The Coast and Castles cycling route is a favourite among locals and tourists for its easy riding and gorgeous views, with golfing, fishing, and bird-watching also popular.

The castle ruins, coastal walks, quiet beaches and vibrant towns are all here waiting for you, and this holiday cottage in Craster puts you smack bang in the centre of it all.

For smaller groups, Coastguard Cottage is available as Coastguard’s Snug which sleeps 2 guests.
