Coquet Island, a mile south of Amble, is an rspb reserve home to a large population of terns, puffins, and eider ducks. The charming coastal villages of Alnmouth and Craster, with their castles and award-winning gardens, along with the National Trust's Wallington Hall all rest within easy reach.
