In the mouth of the River Coquet, Amble is a great starting point for a tour of Northumberland. In addition to its marina, harbour, and sandy beaches, Amble is known for its coastal hikes to Hauxley Bird Sanctuary and Druridge Bay Country Park. A variety of fish, prawns, crabs, and lobsters are caught by large fishing boats that moor along the harbour wall. An old fish hatchery on the side of the harbour is now a shellfish hatchery in order to replenish the supply of lobster and other shellfish in the area. There is an rspb reserve on Coquet Island, just a mile south of Amble, which is home to a huge population of terns, puffins, and eider ducks. In the immediate vicinity are the coastal settlements of Alnmouth and Craster, as well as numerous beautiful beaches, as well as the National Trust properties of Wallington Hall and Cragside.

The location was perfect and the street parking was okay. The king size bed was very comfy and the kitchen was great for cooking. The pint of milk In the fridge was most welcome and lovely to have the filter coffee machine. I appreciate itâs getting towards the end of the season but the decor is getting a bit worn and tired looking as there are lots of marks on the walls and scratches on the doors from previous dogs staying there. A quick touch up with paint on changeover day wouldnât take much. We also pulled up a lot of ivy and weeds in the back yard to stop our dog from eating them which took only a few minutes. However we had a great week and would consider booking again.
