Take a wander back to the cottage through the beautiful Carlisle Park and hire a rowing boat on the River Wansbeck. Then head to Plessey Woods Country Park and embark on one of several walking trails. Further afield, find Northumberlandia, dubbed The Lady of the North where you can explore woodland trails and landscape sculptures; journey to St Mary’s Lighthouse for stunning views out across the renowned Northumberland coastline and explore the vast and tranquil expanses of Cresswell Beach or Druridge Bay only a short drive away from Morpeth. For the adventurous guests, take a surfing or paddleboarding lesson with one of the excellent surf schools along the Coast. Morpeth, a charming market town in Northumberland, is a great starting point from which to travel to the countryside or the seaside. Morpeth is a great starting point for exploring nearby attractions like Druridge Bay, which has miles of miles of golden sand, the vibrant city of Newcastle, to the south, Alnwick, which has a castle and gardens, and the National Trust's Wallington Hall, to the west. Morpeth also offers the ruins of a historic castle, lovely parks, riverside walks, ancient architecture and churches, and an old chantry with a bagpipe museum. There is also access to the Simonside and Cheviot Hills, which offer excellent hiking opportunities amidst stunning scenery.
