The Bungalow was the best holiday let that we've stayed in, extremely clean & well-equipped. Despite being in a small village, it was within range of many places of interest. The scenery was breathtaking, & the weather stayed fine the whole time, apart from an overnight shower on one occasion. The only negative point was that the instructions for the television didn't work, but we had plenty of books to read, our own, & a positive library at the property. The neighbours were very friendly. We'd like to return to The Bungalow in the future.

All in all a very comfortable and exceptionally well equipped holiday home. Certainly the best we have experienced over the years. Everything in the Bungalow has been well thought out and provided for. The village of Thropton is well placed for exploring the beautiful countryside and local amenities in this part of Northumberland. The local hotel, The Three Wheat Heads is highly recommended for the menu, food, service and the views over the Simonside Hills. There is a Shell filling sation in the village with an extremely well stocked Spar shop. An excellent holiday destination and accommodation.HOWEVERThe description in the Cottages.com print out that there are 2 steps to the entrance - and elsewhere that there are shallow steps to the entrance is a little misleading. There are in fact about 5 or 7 shallow steps from the bungalow parking place. Those are easily negotiated. Nowhere is it mentioned that once you have arrived at the top of the 'shallow steps' there follows at least 5 very steep steps up to the front porch, followed by another twp steep steps into the hallway of the bungalow - and no handrails. We are both in our late 80's and found those unmentioned steps extremely difficult for us, especially unloading and loading luggage. The Bungalow sounded ideal for our needs when we booked it, as it appeared to be all on one level, with 'two steps' to entrance. Had we realised just how many steps there actually involved we would probably not have booked it.This does not take away from the excellent accommodation and the location.
