Guests say

The Croft is a spacious and comfortable cottage in a great location for exploring Morpeth and Northumbria. Guests appreciated the well-equipped kitchen, cosy beds, and large enclosed garden, making it ideal for families and dog owners. The property offers a homely atmosphere and is praised for its warmth and convenience. Some maintenance and cleanliness issues were noted, particularly regarding heating, mould, and the lack of curtains in one bedroom. Overall, the cottage is well-suited for a relaxing stay, especially in warmer months.

Several guests found the cottage clean and tidy, but one review highlighted significant issues with mould in all rooms and a blocked drain, which affected their experience.

The location is frequently praised for its central position, making it easy to explore Morpeth, the coast, and Northumbria's attractions. The proximity to a busy road was noted but did not detract from most guests' enjoyment.

Guests found the beds and seating comfortable, and the cottage warm and cosy. However, some mentioned issues with heating in the bedrooms and the bed height for those with joint problems.

The kitchen is well equipped and the garden is spacious and enclosed. However, there were concerns about heating, lack of curtains in one bedroom, low water pressure, and missing safety equipment, as well as some maintenance issues.

There were no mentions of welcome gifts or extra thoughtful touches in the reviews, so a score cannot be provided for this category.

The Croft is a lovely cottage very spacious. Wonderful log burner. Lovely kitchen. The heating in kitchen and living room was ok. Was advised how to shunt the heating but in main bedroom radiator barely got warm. In the twin bedroom it didn't come on at all. We were there between Christmas and into the New Year- so the little bedroom was for our 10yr old granddaughter so had to go into Alnwick and buy a small fan heater to take the chill off the room before bed and getting out of bed. There were no instructions for the lounge tv and luckily we had our own log ins to various streaming networks to be able to watch. Tv in the bedroom was amazing!! We managed to section off a part of the garden so we could sit out with the dogs and have them off lead. We would return to the Croft but possibly only in warmer weather. The host was really helpful and responsive.

There was mould in all rooms, dangerous approach to the back door, uneven paving slabs. External drain was blocked causing a bad smell inside and out. Vermin could be heard in the roof space. Water pressure extremely low, after flushing the toilet there was just a dribble from the basin and kitchen tap. Broken toilet seat. No smoke or carbon monoxide detectors or fire blanket. No instructions for all the appliances. Definitely not suitable for children, lots of hazards in the overgrown so called garden. No curtains in the back bedroom, hence no privacy. However the settee and beds were comfortable. Overall we are very disappointed, this has cost us our hard earned money. Wondering how this property is listed by Cottages.com. We do have photos of the mould etc.

Really enjoyed our stay at The Croft, very comfortable and well equipped. Big garden with space to play ball with our black lab and he loved it there too. It is next to a busy road but the garden is enclosed and the road noise didn’t bother us at all in the cottage. It’s in a great position for exploring a really lovely area. Would definitely recommend and hope to go back one day.
