Tomeg is a spacious, well-equipped cottage in an excellent location for exploring Amble and the Northumberland coast. Guests consistently praise its proximity to shops, beaches, and local attractions, as well as its comfortable, homely feel. The conservatory and garden are appreciated features, and the property is dog-friendly. While parking at the rear can be tight and some furnishings and kitchenware could benefit from updating, most guests found the house clean and welcoming. Overall, Tomeg offers a great base for families and couples seeking a relaxing holiday in a vibrant seaside town.
Most guests found the property clean and tidy, with several describing it as spotless or very clean. However, a few reviews noted areas needing improvement, such as kitchen cleanliness, dusty spots, and older towels. These occasional issues slightly lower the overall impression but do not detract significantly from the general standard.
The location is highly praised, with guests loving the easy access to Amble's shops, harbour, beaches, and restaurants. The cottage is described as ideally placed for exploring both the town and the wider Northumberland area, making it a standout feature.
Guests generally found the cottage comfortable, with positive comments on the beds, spaciousness, and warmth. Some mentioned issues with the firmness of mattresses, tired sofas, and a low toilet, but these were outweighed by the overall comfort and homely atmosphere.
The cottage is well-equipped, with a good kitchen, conservatory, and private parking (albeit tight). Some guests noted missing or outdated items (e.g., lack of dishwasher, uncomfortable sofas, old pans, no WiFi), and minor maintenance issues were occasionally mentioned. Overall, facilities meet most guests' needs, but some updates would enhance the experience.
There are no specific mentions of welcome gifts or extra thoughtful touches in the reviews, so a score cannot be provided for this category.

The boiler was switched off. Spoke to owner who contacted emergency plumber & suggested I follow utube video to rectify. No apology, from the owner, she simply said 'well it was all ok when we were there 2 wks ago' !! Once sorted the house warmed up fairly quickly & stayed warm, but not a good start to my stay. Sofas are torn & scatter cushions marked. Sitting room lamp did not work. Stayers need to be aware that parking is very awkward, I had to reverse down narrow lane to get out & it was made worse by skip being parked part way along. Kitchen equipment wasn't good, e.g. wonky handle on frying pan, complicated microwave & fridge door with only 1 shelf. House felt uncared for, curtain rails a bit dilapidated in sitting room & main bedroom, skirting boards behind beds etc. very dusty. Good location for Amble & surrounds. Easy to walk to the beach, shops eateries.

It was warm and cosy once the heating was sorted out with the owner. The only hitch comfort wise was the sofas were tired and uncomfortable. A great stay nonetheless with good food and beer at the Wellwood Arms just a few yards away.

The property was comfortable, well equipped and warm. The location of the property is ideal for access to shops, restaurants and Amble harbour. There were a couple of minor maintenance issues. We raised these with the mobile number provided in the property by text. The issues were, a table lamp not working, one end of a curtain rail in the main bedroom had come loose and the shower head kept sliding down in use. These were only minor issues and did not spoil the holiday.
