Captain’s Rest is an exceptional property located a stones throw from the beach and harbour at Seahouses. This delightful holiday home has been finished to a high standard, offering a sense of luxury to a group getaway; Captain’s Rest is ideal for a family gathering to enjoy Northumberland’s coastlines. The accommodation is spacious yet comfortable for all to enjoy with the master suite located in the separate annex across the garden. Externally there is parking for two cars and to the rear of the property there’s a large enclosed garden both lawned and paved making this a very enjoyable space. When you are ready to start your Northumberland adventure, you will not be disappointed with Seahouses, it is home to an array of amenities including some fantastic restaurants, cafés, and shops. There are also a range of exciting activities such as horse riding at the nearby stables, a round of golf at the towns 18-hole course or hit the waves and take part in some adrenaline pumping water sports.
Take a boat trip to the nearby Farne Islands, home to an abundance of quirky wildlife, including puffins and seals, and if you’re lucky, you might even catch sight of the dolphins as they play in the water. Lace up your walking boots and follow the Northumberland Coast Path to explore the hidden gems of the fabulous coastline, recognized as an area of outstanding natural beauty, boasting panoramic views across the water as you pass sweeping beaches, rocky headland, quaint seaside towns and dramatic ruined castles. Further inland is the delightful market town of Alnwick, home to Alnwick Castle, famously known as Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry from Harry Potter; take a scenic stroll through the towns beautifully maintained formal gardens or explore the fascinating history on display at Bailiffgate Museum. Our 2nd holiday at the cottage. We love where situated, the size and layout. Big bonus for us secured garden for the dogs and parking car. Hopefully we will return again in the future.

Overall a very good experience and we were very happy with the property. Very spacious and comfortable. Generally very clean but some parts need a bit of TLC but it is dog friendly so some marks may be expected. With the front gates closed it was fully enclosed for the dogs. We didn't use the upstairs but it looked very good. Beds comfortable and bathrooms good. Good location just a short walk to town and central for places of interest. Only minor niggles such as most kitchen pans need renewing as badly scratched, the cooker is a bit slow, the oven seal was loose and the cooker knobs were difficult to use as worn. Would recommend the owner supplying a large 2 drawer air fryer as more versatile. Wifi is included. Would recommend with or without dogs but the whole area including the beaches is very dog friendly.

Sadly, Captains rest is in dire need of updating in certain areas. It needs a thorough deep clean. Carpets and soft furnishings need attention. I like to keep the accommodation we stay in clean and tidy but there were no basic cleaning products, and I begrudge buying them all myself, I even had to ask for tea towels! It is a shame as the house is very spacious and could be amazing with some attention, on the plus side the garden was a good size for the dogs and children. We would not return in its present condition.
