The score reflects the mix of positive comments about general cleanliness and repeated concerns about dust and maintenance in hidden spots.

Nestled in the old part of Seahouses, close to the working harbour, Ladyburn House has been sympathetically designed, using traditional materials, in keeping with the heritage and old-world charm of the area. Set in the heart of Seahouses it’s a real treat to meander to one of the friendly bars or restaurants, leaving the car parked up in the private courtyard. After dinner why not stroll along the harbour or beach and soak up the atmosphere? Seahouses has always been known for the fishing vessels and boat trips over to the Farne Islands; it is also known for the history around the rnli and the famous Grace Darling, a museum dedicated to her in nearby Bamburgh. Walking along the beach is a wonderful experience when you get a glimpse of Bamburgh Castle and Holy Island - a wonderful sight. Kiddies will enjoy a splash in the rockpools, with the little nets that can be bought in a local shop. The boat trips are popular to Longstone Lighthouse and the Farne Islands, where thousands of seals and puffins make their home. The crazy golf house and large gift shop are popular with all ages and just a short walk from Ladyburn House. Fish and Chips at least once is a must whilst visiting the area. Further up the coast you can visit Holy Island, famous for the Lindisfarne Gospels; you must try a bottle of the Mead to take home. Alnwick is only half an hour away, with its majestic castle that was used in some Harry Potter and Downton Abbey scenes - a great experience for both adults and children. Don’t forget to look around the historic town, exploring the cobbled streets and independent shops whilst you are there. Berwick upon Tweed is only 22 miles away, right on the border of Scotland and England, where you can stop off and maybe visit some of the border towns. The beaches up the Northumberland Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty remain unspoilt and underpopulated, so there is always somewhere to find more seclusion should you wish. Beach 1 mile.

A lovely house in a lovely location. Everything we needed for a comfortable stay; comfy beds, well equipped kitchen, plenty of seating, clean and thoughtfully decorated, even a sea view from the 1st floor window. We would definitely stay again if we were in Northumberland.

The house is a great size in a good location and well equipped.. however, as per previous reviews I concur the general cleanliness left something to be desired. If the owners wish to contact me I'm happy to give details. We did enjoy our stay...the house is well decorated and comfortable and the lounge kitchen area is a great space for big families etc. The bedrooms are nice, the beds are all comfy and lots of storage. There was a good supply of cleaning products and the welcome hamper was absolutely lovely..thank you for that x

Spacious for 8 adults.Beds were clean and comfortable, location is great. On the surface, lovely house, well equipped. However.... as per all the other reviews, the cleanliness was seriously lacking. The dust under the beds is inches thick! The dust was hanging from the ceilings and on the skirting boards, and on drawer tops/dressing tables etc. We moved the settee and I have no idea what had been spilt on the floor by previous occupants - we cleaned it up. The glasses, crockery and cutlery also needed cleaning before we used it.I appreciate the cleaners have limited time to but I have never stayed anywhere like this. It needs a full DEEP clean. Perhaps something other holiday home owners do every once in a while??I vacuumed before we left, but I didn't dare lift the cushions on the settees!
