Guests say

Sand Castles is a spacious and well-equipped cottage in Seahouses, praised for its excellent location close to the beach and quiet surroundings. Guests appreciate the comfortable beds, large garden, and suitability for families and pets. While the property is generally clean and homely, some areas and facilities are described as tired or in need of maintenance, particularly the crockery and bathrooms. Minor issues such as a lack of cleaning products and basic supplies were noted, but overall, guests enjoyed their stay and would recommend the property.

Most guests found the property clean and comfortable, though some mentioned dirty carpets, exterior areas needing attention, and leftover pet waste in the garden. The crockery was often described as looking dirty due to crazing and cracks.

The location is highly praised, with guests loving the proximity to the beach and the peaceful setting. Some noted it is a short walk to the village, which may be a consideration for those wanting immediate access to amenities.

The house is described as spacious and comfortable, with good beds and plenty of room for families and pets. A few guests mentioned a hard mattress and minor issues with bedroom furniture, but overall comfort was rated highly.

Facilities are generally good, with a well-equipped kitchen and large garden. However, guests noted issues such as insufficient or damaged crockery, lack of cleaning equipment, tired bathroom fittings, and some appliances not working. The property would benefit from a refresh and minor repairs.

Some guests were disappointed by the lack of basic supplies such as cleaning products, bin bags, and a stocked first aid kit. No mention of welcome gifts was made. While some essentials like washing up liquid were provided, the overall impression was that more attention to guest needs would be appreciated. Please note that any gifts or extras are not guaranteed.

After reading some of the recent reviews we were a little apprehensive about this property, particularly after we used to regularly rent a house nearby with sea views that had gone drastically downhill. Some people must obviously expect Chatsworth House when they book a holiday home - they have rather grand expectations. We found Sand Castles very clean, comfortable, well equipped and very homely. Yes, a few plates might have glaze that’s crazed but they certainly aren’t unhygienic. We will have no hesitation recommending it to friends and family and expect to return again.

I concur with the previous reviewers - this place is tired and requires maintenance. We were able to use the heating controls so we were warm and there was plenty of hot water. There was one log and kindling. At the price for six it is value for money but I wouldn’t want to pay more. The list of issues is lengthy and I will be making cottages.com aware of these. For us the location was perfect and but we will not be returning to this property.

This property could be brilliant, and is of a good size for a family, however there are various issues that let it down. There was no wood for the first night for the wood burner, which is an issue in the winter, and no recommendations for getting more. The main plates in the kitchen are badly cracked, which is a health and safety issue. Otherwise the kitchen is well equipped. The last issue is that the main bathroom needs a full refurbishment, but the toilet dripped and the taps leak and the shower does not work well, more like a dribble. The information about the house and area was poor and very outdated. With a little love and care this house could be perfect.
