About this property

Situated close to the golf course in Seahouses in Northumberland, Sandy Shores is an outstanding holiday home ideal for a family holiday. The property offers spacious and flexible accommodation perfect for gathering together and socialising but equally, it provides space to get away from each other too! The sitting room is bright and airy with ample seating, a feature contemporary fireplace, large windows and solid wood flooring, which all add up to create a really welcoming room. The kitchen/diner is made for entertaining with a fully fitted kitchen where the designated chef can cook up a storm and a stylish dining area where guests can pull up a chair and keep the chef company. There are patio doors here leading into the delightful conservatory where you can gather together or if you want to get away from it all, it’s also a great spot for curling up with a book on your own. The patio gardens are safe and enclosed so provide a good area for children to run around in while the grown-ups can take a pew at the patio table and enjoy time alfresco. All that running around will have tired everyone out so choose from three well-appointed bedrooms, all of which are inviting and the perfect place to rest your weary heads after a tiring day of exploring. In the morning, you’re in the best place for discovering the delights of Northumberland with Seahouses right on the doorstep where you will find miles of sandy beaches to discover or you could catch a boat from here to Farne Islands where you can look out for birds and seals. Bamburgh also has some great independent shops, bars, pubs, cafes and boutiques and is known for its fascinating castle. Jump in the car and head out to attractions such as Alnwick Castle and Gardens, Dunstanburgh Castle, Northumberland Country Zoo, Hauxley Wildlife Discovery Centre and Hadrian’s Wall. Activities to look forward to while you’re in the region include golf at Alnmouth, horse-riding at Slate Hall Riding Centre and surfing at Bamburgh Castle Beach. Boasting captivating sea views and enjoying the perfect coastal location, Sandy Shores is the ideal base for exploring the wonders of Northumberland.

A bustling, pretty fishing village with an attractive harbour, situated on the beautiful Northumbrian coast in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Seahouses offers a variety of shops and a good selection of inns, pubs and eating places. Nearby are miles and miles of splendid sandy beaches and the opportunity to visit the bird sanctuary or seal colony on the famous Farne Islands with boat trips running daily from Seahouses, is not to be missed. There are numerous castles and great houses to explore, such as the magnificent castles at Bamburgh, Cragside, and Alnwick (home of the Duke of Northumberland), to mention just a few. Golf, fishing and riding are also available locally.

We found the house offered great value for the money more so for a family there's plenty of room, due to its location and ease of walking either to the town centre or long walks along some of the most beautiful beaches on the east coast. If you've forgotten something don't worry because the owners have it covered. The house is light, clean, warm and spacious with a large kitchen dinner with all you need, there's also a large conservatory where you can lie back and relax and in the summer a large back garden to catch the sunshine ☀ also plenty free parking at the front of the house. Overall we had a fantastic week at Sandy shores we would highly recommend it as the place to spend a relaxing holiday. 5

Review discussed and submitted by email. I received a reply from Sykes thanking me and stating that all points raised will be actioned accordingly. Booked from Saturday 02/09/2023 – Saturday 09/09/2023 but left early on the Thursday. Great location and is ideally situated for exploring Seahouses, Beadnell and Bamburgh, easy parking, potentially a very good house! 1. Problem with front door. Doesn’t open and close smoothly. Need to push it hard to make it close. 2. Overall cleanliness is poor. For example, drawer and cupboard handles in kitchen were sticky. 3. Drawers and cupboards are full of unnecessary cutlery and crockery. There is a spice rack in the kitchen that because it was covered in dust was not used. There were also two packets of food in one of the cupboards. The drawers and cupboards in the utility room were also full. There were instruction manuals for equipment that was no longer present, remote control for a tv that is not in the house, tennis balls etc. The meat grill and the sandwich maker could be placed on the work top in the utility room or in a cupboard that has been cleared of the many glasses. The instruction books should be placed with them. 4. Kettle would boil once but then would only heat to coffee settings. 5. Sofa and chairs in living room were not clean and very uncomfortable. 6. Chair in corner of conservatory is damaged. The canvas under the cushion was ripped along two sides. Someone sitting down on this chair could hurt themselves. 7. There was a nice selection of DVD’s but I could not find a DVD Player. 8. Bed in main bedroom is in the wrong position based on the two electric sockets on the opposite wall. The headboard also hits the wall when getting into bed. Maybe the neighbour complained, the bed was moved, and an extension lead added for the beside lamps. 9. The hooks for the tie-backs for the curtains in the main and back bedrooms were very loose and almost falling out. Needs new Rawlplugs to fix these. 10. The garage door was impossible to open. This is problem if guests wanted to store bicycles or other items. I see the review posted by Ashley, March 2023, and had hoped that improvements would have been made. Sandy Shores is advertised as being suitable for 6 guests. It would be good if there were only 6 sets of cutlery and crockery. Welcome pack was very good but why not include 4 of the excellent Northumbria Breweries beers and lagers rather than Stella Artois from Belgium!
