Heatherlea is a spacious detached property tucked up a quiet lane within the picturesque village of Otterburn. The property has been recently refurbished to provide fresh and contemporary self catering holiday accommodation. An open fire in the lounge ensures a cosy welcome awaits guests whatever the season. A sun room leads from the kitchen and makes a bright and airy space to relax in whilst overlooking the tiered garden and pretty views beyond. Two of the four bedrooms are also conveniently placed on the ground floor along with the family bathroom. An extension to the original property gives steps leading up to a master bedroom on the first floor with en-suite shower facilities and steps leading down to an additional bedroom. A useful utility area completes the picture.

Lovely cottage very clean - ideal for us and our dog. Garden was very secure for him. Shame that the local shop appears to be in decline as it was a struggle to get some basics eg milk but most other items were available but at premium prices!

A lovely base for exploring this beautiful part of Northumberland. Easy access to Kielder forest / water, the Scottish borders, Hadrians wall & the coast.The house is up a narrow lane, convenient shop at the bottom of the lane. Fantastic views!The main rooms & bedrooms have been decorated to a high standard with lovely flooring & neutral decor. The sofas are very soft, not great for back problems or getting out of if you have mobility problems. Ensuite bedroom is up a few stairs (with rail), downstairs twin would need to use main bathroom on ground floor as no toilet / bathroom on lower ground floor. Sufficient storage in bedrooms. Only 1 hairdrier so take your own if several guests need to get ready together! No shaver points in bathrooms. Presumably the main bathroom & kitchen are next on the list for updating as both need significant work to bring them up to the same standard as the other rooms. Unfortunately I had to spend significant time clearing space & moving clutter in the kitchen cupboards to store food needed for our week & cleaning cupboards & surfaces - not a great start after a very long drive. The kitchen equipment is all fine & reasonable selection of pans. Would have been useful to have a sieve, wooden spoons & food tongs. Cleaning materials provided.Beware a relatively large step without handrail from kitchen to sun room. We didn't use the garden, in part due to the weather but in part due to uneven paving, uneven / rough steps without rails & unguarded big drops - my father has mobility difficulties & would not have been safe.

A wonderful property in a great location, Heatherlea has delightful views and plenty of space. It was easy to find and exceptionally comfortable. The views from the en-suite bedroom upstairs were wonderful. Close to the local shop, and an 8 minute drive to the Bay Hose Inn which did fabulous food and was dog friendly. It was a last minute booking for us after being let down by another booking 2 weeks before our trip - and we’re really happy that it happened! Would definitely recommend.
