Guests say

Kilaine Cottage is praised for its cleanliness, cosy charm, and well-equipped kitchen. Guests appreciate the comfortable beds and the property's proximity to local amenities and coastal towns. While the main road location and parking are noted concerns, the cottage's overall appeal and the warmth of the local community are highlighted.

Guests consistently mention that the cottage is exceptionally clean and well-presented, indicating high standards of cleanliness throughout the property.

The location is appreciated for its accessibility to nearby towns and attractions, but the main road position and parking challenges, as well as the run-down appearance of the local area, slightly detract from its appeal.

The cottage receives high marks for comfort, with guests finding the beds super comfy and the living spaces cosy. However, some guests mention issues with the shower and noise from the traffic.

Facilities are generally well-regarded, especially the kitchen and storage. However, several guests report issues with the shower, parking, and a few broken items, suggesting room for improvement in maintenance.

While guests appreciate the well-equipped property and comfortable furnishings, there are no specific mentions of gifts or extra thoughtful touches that would warrant a score in this category.

This is a beautifully restored cottage on the edge of Loftus which, being on the main Saltburn to Whitby road allows easy travelling to Skinningrove with its beautiful award winning Cattersby beach, Saltburn, Staithes, Runswick Bay, Whitby and many more places This beautiful quaint sympathetically restored cottage is deceptively large inside compared to the pictures and beautifully presented. It was exceptionally clean and well equipped. We particularly thought the stone floors and log burner were great. Fabulous, well equipped kitchen with lots of storage. The beds were super comfy too. The cottage was toasty, even without using the woodburner, in the cold January weather, and had a beautiful homely feel to it. Although unable to park outside the property, every day we parked at the same place, less than a 2 minute walk away from the cottage without any problems. Would struggle to find a property in Staithes, Runswick or Whitby with parking so close and a parking space so easy to find. To the side of the property is a very quiet small road which on arrival and departure, we parked in for a short time, outside the back door to the cottage allowing a very quick and easy unload of our holiday bagsLoftus is a small and very friendly village with a small supermarket , takeaways, café, and several good hostelries. We particularly liked “The Britannia” a friendly, busy, atmospheric and characterful locals pub no more than 100 yards from the cottage.KasKanes and Covells bar in Skinningrove, a 4 minute drive away is super welcoming and provides quality, large portioned meals at sensible prices. The cottage was a credit to the owners Aiden & Ann and would definitely recommend it to other visitors to the area and intend to return in the near future.

We were notified about broken toaster, blind and coat hangers before arrival. When we got there the coffee machine was also broke with a note just left on the top saying out of order. The cleaner didn't do a very good job, cobwebs, scuffs on walls, blood on the second bedroom door. The toilet doesn't flush properly which was a major problem with 5 people and 1 toilet backing up. Drainage was also a problem with waste spilling over into the small courtyard. This being said we didn't let it spoil our stay and made the most of the new years. With a bit of tlc this could be a lovely cottage
