I came across ‘The Stables’ while searching for somewhere to stay for an Alton Towers trip and thought it was an amazing price for the size of the property.Only after I’d booked I came across multiple terrible reviews and even contacted hoseasons and almost cancelled.I am so glad I didn’t!The house was beautiful! A great space with plenty of room for 6 adults and 3 kids. I’m not sure if the owners have taken action recently or the previous reviewers were just being extremely critical. Despite what I’d read the house was extremely clean, really well equipped, and the hot tub was checked and maintained throughout our stay. We knew to expect the Jack and Jill shared bathroom from the reviews, but this wasn’t an issue as we were staying with family. It was a great base for Alton Towers (45 minute drive away) and Congleton had a nice play park for the kids and supermarkets/McDonalds. We also ate at The Plough nearby which was lovely. A few things we thought would improve our stay were perhaps another sofa as the living room is quite split for a large group to socialise. One of the heated towel rails didn’t work and there were a few bulbs missing in the bedside lamps. Another thing I would say is needed is some sort of sign outside on the road as it’s very easy to miss the turning and much harder in the dark. The postcode provided took us to a place along the road. Once we got our bearings it was easy to find though. Again despite what I’d read, my deposit was returned the same day I checked out. Overall it was a great 4 night break and greatly exceeded our expectations! It was a bargain price and we all agreed we would love to return at some point. Thanks for a lovely stay!

Excellent value for money especially for the size of the property. We stayed as 5 adults, 2 teenagers and 2 little ones and the space was amazing.Unfortunately, the facilities were not fantastic. The 'hot' water was mostly cold, the fridge did not keep our food / drinks cool, let alone cold. It was only on the last evening we noticed that the wine cooler was much colder than the fridge! The mattresses were not to any of our liking, extremely soft, as were the pillows. The outside area and furniture could do with some TLC, as well as seating for the swing chair! The property has all the facilities - washing machine, tumble dryer, dishwasher etc. but it would have been good to have a washing line as we had such fantastic weather, it was a shame to use the electric on the tumble dryer. The location was not great - no pavement / pathway outside of the gates, only a national speed road. However, the view of the fields with the sheep and duck pond made up for it!I gave helpfulness of staff as 'good' as we did not contact them during our stay. However, on reflection, maybe we should have contacted the staff regarding the temperature of the fridge and lack of hot water.I would recommend this property, as the space was amazing!

We recently stayed at this cottage with family and overall had a lovely time. The setting is absolutely beautiful – the views over the fields are stunning and the whole place feels incredibly peaceful and relaxing. The cottage itself is lovely inside, tastefully decorated and very comfortable. However, I do feel it’s important to point out a few things for future guests. The listing description says the property has four en-suite bathrooms and one family bathroom, but that’s not quite accurate. In reality, there are two en-suites, and the other two bedrooms share a connecting shower room. This would have been fine, but unfortunately we weren’t able to use the shared shower during our stay due to drainage issues – it flooded the bathroom each time we tried. We did report it to staff, but unfortunately it wasn’t resolved during our stay.We also really enjoyed using the hot tub – it was a lovely way to unwind – but the outdoor area could do with a bit of TLC to bring it up to the same standard as the interior.Overall, it’s a beautiful place in a gorgeous location, and we had a great time, but there are a few things that need attention to make it truly perfect.
