Nestled amidst the serene Cheshire countryside is the charming village of Delamere, a tranquil location with rich history. Offering a fascinating history that dates back centuries, the village takes its name from Delamere Forest, a vast woodland that was a former Royal hunting ground in the medieval period and played in important role in the local economy. Over time the forest was gradually reduced in size, but its legacy can still be seen in the beautiful Delamere Forest Park. Explore the enchanting Delamere Forest Park which covers 2400 acres, enjoy a leisurely stroll along the tranquil walking trails, cycle through the forest or have a picnic amongst the towering trees; you can also make base at Delamere Lake, a serene spot for nature lovers or fishing enthusiasts. Further afield, spend the day at the Manley Mere Adventure Trail, where you can engage in exciting activities such as paddleboarding, kayaking and adventure trails, or head to the bustling city of Chester. Chester is home to the Roman City Walls, Chester Racecourse, the iconic Eastgate Clock, Chester Cathedral and a plethora of fantastic shops, pubs, restaurants and bars, perfect for refuelling before continuing on with your adventures! The lodge was spotlessly clean and extremely modern and high quality. The location meant we could go out all day every day with the children keeping them entertained. We will be back for sure!

In the evening we had to re pressurise the boiler as there was no water in it. Our meal for 6 adults meant two had to drink wine from tumblers as only 4 wine glasses! Only 7 mugs for 6 people for a weekend- no use for a dishwasher unless you wait 2 hours for your next cuppa! No rack in the oven- only one Ill fitting grill tray. Also only one red chopping board with one large knife. No where to set anything hot. Someone else had this issue too as one of the placements were warped. A fantastic hot tub, but not one peg in the bathrooms for one never mind 6 wet towels and swimsuits. Did find a clothes horse for two towels though! All in all a fab location and potentially a lovely lodge, but so poorly thought out. Don’t let people book for 6 adults only because it has 6 beds- all with waterproof sheets on too- that rustle and make you sweat. Also contacted Sykes with questions twice that they put to the park, but they got no response. I contacted Haufryn direct, but they never got back to me either. Pretty poor to be honest, and embarrassed that I recommended Sykes to my friends!
