We stayed at the barnacle goose cottage for a week, 4 adults. The cottage overlooked the Solway and backed onto the RSPB. The cottage was spotless and had everything we needed, well stoked kitchen. Nice surprise to have some wine and several goodies left by the owner. The beds were extremely comfortable as were the pillows. It is situated about a mile from the nearest small enclave where the is a pub and restaurant. It is a bit of a track to the nearest shop so make sure you bring plenty of supplies although this wasn’t a problem as we were out in the car every day visiting the lovely local and not so local towns. We would definitely recommend this cottage.

We really enjoyed our stay. The property was immaculate with views over the estuary towards Scotland. For walkers and cyclists or those requiring peace and quiet it is a perfect location. The property is a couple of miles from the village which has a pub a small shop, a bar where food is served and not much else. In fact, there were no other shops for miles so I would recommend taking as much food as possible. As it was, we enjoyed visiting Hadrian’s wall, the air museum and some of the larger towns. Our son and his family especially enjoyed early morning bike rides along the long quiet roads. This is a part of England new to us and very different from other places. We went there for a rest and to spend quality time together and it was a delight.

Stunning location, peaceful & tranquil. The property was lovely, exactly as described. We took our dogs and the owners had left treats & toys for them, which I thought was a lovely touch. There was sweets and snacks for the kids, and alcohol for the adults. Really thoughtful, thank you. Would definitely stay again.
