This lovely detached cottage is located in the village of Murton, on the edge of the North Pennines, four miles from the market town of Appleby-in-Westmorland. The cottage is perfect for friends and families wishing to explore this beautiful part of the country. There are many steps down to the front door from where you enter into a light and airy hall and into a sitting room with comfortable seating, before going into the well-equipped kitchen with dining area. For added flexibility there is a ground floor cloakroom with basin and WC. Upstairs there are four bedrooms, one with super king-size bed and en-suite shower, one double, one single and one twin, together with a family bathroom.
Outside, there are front and rear gardens with views to the summits of Mell Fell and Murton Pike. Both are ideal places to relax with a refreshing drink whilst planning your days ahead. From this cosy cottage you can access both the Pennine Way and the Coast to Coast Walk or simply amble into Dufton and enjoy this perfect quintessential English village with inn and tea room. Alternatively, explore the pretty market town of Appleby-in-Westmorland with numerous shops, inns and castle, or take an evening stroll along the River Eden before enjoying dinner in one of the fine inns. Why not drive over to Pooley Bridge at the head of Ullswater and enjoy a cruise on the steamer down Ullswater, the second largest in the Lake District? A lovely cottage in a wonderful, unspoilt location.
The historic town of Appleby-in-Westmorland lies in a loop of the River Eden and is overlooked by the North Pennines, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty with the Lake District Fells showing on the western horizon. Set at the heart of the lush Eden Valley and steeped in history, this is one of the loveliest towns in the north of England and was originally the county town of Westmorland. Appleby is nestled between the Lakes and Yorkshire Dales, so guests can enjoy the contrasting scenery of these two National Parks, plus numerous walking and cycling opportunities as well as the fantastic leisure centre in the town. Appleby has a wonderful selection of quality independent shops, cafes and dlicatessens selling locally produced food and crafts. The picturesque street of Boroughgate, with some interesting old buildings, is at the heart of the town and links the well-preserved Norman Castle with the fine medieval Church of St. Lawrence.
