About this property

Roose 4.3 miles. Located in Goadsbarrow near Roose, White Stones is a compact dormer bungalow resting along the Cumbrian coast. This contemporary abode has been designed to an excellent standard with far-reaching views across the bay to Lancashire. Enjoy a family-friendly holiday or a trip with friends, appreciating all that White Stones has to offer, from the calming fields in the distance, to the inviting, open-plan living area. Off-road parking is available for two cars before making yourself at home; the well-equipped kitchen and dining area is a lovely place to begin your day with a hearty breakfast, and somewhere peaceful to settle down after a journey with your loved ones. Bring your favourite bottle from the wine cooler to the sitting area for a restful evening, which is elevated by a woodburning stove and an L-shaped sofa, with a grey overtone for a sophisticated finish. A utility room holds a washing machine and extra storage space, whilst the ground-floor shower room is a sleek space to wash the day away with a power shower. Choose from two bedrooms located on the ground floor, the first is a twin and the second a double, both almost mirroring each other in style. A rather special aspect of the cottage is the master king-size room on the first floor; natural light falls in through the collection of windows, and a freestanding roll-top bath is a quirky feature, complimented by a handheld shower and heated towel rail for extra comfort. Why not wander outside for some leisure time, relax on the furniture available, or enjoy a barbecue as you watch the sun go down. The village of Roose is just a short journey away from the essential amenities for your self-catering stay, whilst coastal walks await right on your doorstep with your four-legged friends. Nearby attractions include the spectacular 12th-century ruins of Furness Abbey and a small ferry will take you to the 14th-century Piel Castle in the south. Head to Barrow-in-Furness to learn local history at The Dock Museum or bring your clubs to test your swing at Ulverston Golf Club, with Bardsea nearby to stop for lunch. The ancient market town of Ulverston is built around a cobbled main street and boasts a fine selection of independent shops, cafés and pubs with open fires and real ales. Ulverston is also well-known as a festival town, with events ranging from walking to art and music festivals throughout the summer. A destination not to be missed, you'll have the Cumbrian coast and Lake District National Park within easy reach with a stay at White Stones.

Roose, also known as Roosecote, is a charming neighbourhood and ward of Barrow-in-Furness that makes a wonderful location for anyone looking for a rural vacation in Cumbria. There's a lot to see and do in the area, which is surrounded by Rampside and Stank, as well as Piel Island and Roa Island. Roose is home to a railway station, a variety of pubs and stores ideal for any self-catered stay. Barrow-in-Furness, a nearby town, offers a greater range of services, including a cinema and the Dock Museum.

Only down side for me personally was the king-size bed upstairs, the mattress wasn't comfortable and seemed to have lost its bounce back and firmness. Otherwise fantastic property and would recommend to others and return.

Only disappointing thing was the gate. We traveled with three cocker spaniels and within an hour of us arriving two had got through the gap at the side of gate whilst we were unpacking cars. Dread to think what could have happend if we hadn’t seen them as near main road. I read this quite a lot in the guest book in the cottage. Please owners do something about this before there is an accident or a dog goes missing. We picked this place as said secure garden area. I cannot fault the cottage though it was fab.

The house was spacious and cosy for us and our dogs. Only thing we would suggest is more knives in the drawer. If you book to stay you won’t regret it, it’s a great place.
