Guests say

High Windy Cottage is consistently praised for its stunning views, cosy warmth, and welcoming host, Pauline. Guests appreciate the peaceful, rural setting and the natural beauty of the area, with great walks and nature close by. The lack of Wi-Fi and mobile signal is seen as a bonus by many, adding to the retreat's charm. The property is noted for its cleanliness and comfort, providing a relaxing break from modern life.

Guests frequently mention the spotless condition of the cottage, indicating a high level of cleanliness that contributes to the overall comfort and appeal of the stay.

The location is highly regarded for its incredible views and proximity to natural beauty and walks. The remote setting is appreciated for its tranquillity, although the closed local pub and distance to amenities are noted.

The cottage is described as cosy and warm, with a woodburner adding to the comfort. The conservatory and garden are also appreciated for relaxation, and the beds are implied to be comfortable through the restful nature of stays.

The cottage is equipped with modern conveniences and provides a well-stocked kitchen, books, and jigsaws. However, one review mentions a blocked view and TV signal issues, suggesting some room for improvement in facilities and maintenance.

While the host is frequently mentioned as welcoming and helpful, there are no specific references to gifts or special touches that would fall under the category of thoughtfulness. Therefore, this score is set to null.

High Windy cottage is located in an amazing rural setting, the house is warm and cosy and within a short drive to Alston you have an array of shops, if you travel further afield you have the larger supermarkets. Pauline and Cameron live close by and are very helpful if needed but not intrusive. There is plenty to do in the area from walking, historic houses, museums, monuments, caves towns and villages.

Highly recommend High Windy Cottage for a complete get away from it all. Views are incredible, great walks round about. Cosy and warm to come back to after a day out on the fells. Lovely host. Having no Wi-Fi was a complete bonus.
